Indian listeners in Johor, Malaysia can tune to 3 Tamil radio stations. 2 are local (Raaga and Minnal) and 1 is from Singapore (Mediacorp Oli 96.8FM)

In Peninsular Malaysia, there are usually having 2 Tamil radio stations, namely Raaga (owned by Astro Radio) and Minnal FM (owned by RTM - Radio Televisyen Malaysia), but this does not include Kelantan, Terengganu, East Pahang because Raaga is not available in these region on FM radio transmission. Malaysia Indians usually know about Raaga and Minnal FM for Tamil radio broadcasting in the country, but in Johor there are 1 more Tamil radio station actually alongside stated 2 radio stations.

Johor is a special state because it is located next to Singapore. In Singapore, there is 1 Tamil radio station operated by Mediacorp, known as Oli 96.8FM, it is available in Central and South Johor in Malaysia via overspill frequency signal.

As Mediacorp Oli 96.8FM is available in Johor, so Indian listeners can tune to 3 Tamil radio stations in the state. 2 local Tamil radio stations (Raaga and Minnal) and 1 Tamil radio station from Singapore.

I know Raaga is a very popular Malaysia Tamil radio station among all, but I'm not sure whether Oli 96.8FM is popular or not in Johor because many of my Indian friends are tuning to Raaga, meanwhile Indian seniors tune to Minnal FM.

Talk about availability of Mediacorp Oli 96.8FM in Johor, it is available in Johor Bahru, Kulaijaya, Pontian, Kluang, Kota Tinggi and certain part of Batu Pahat/Mersing. It is impossible to tune Oli 96.8FM in Muar, Endau and Segamat district because it is interfered by Sinar FM 96.9MHz from Gunung Telapak Buruk transmitter where it covers Negeri Sembilan.

From Johor to Melaka, Oli 96.8FM can be received up to Yong Peng where located in Batu Pahat district, then signal is being interfered by Sinar FM 96.9MHz.

A full coverage list of Oli 96.8FM will be released at next blog post.

Dear Indian listeners in Johor, between Raaga, Minnal and Oli 96.8FM, which one do you listen the most?
