Hulu Perak is a district located in Far North Perak where bordered with Thailand, Kedah and Kelantan. This district consists three major towns such as Gerik, Pengkalan Hulu and Lenggong.
On 4th June 2023, I went to Hulu Perak district for staycation and conducting radio signal monitoring (DXing). I could hear several Thailand radio stations in Hulu Perak district such as Pengkalan Hulu, Klian Intan, Gerik and Lawin, those Thailand radio stations are based in Yala and Betong.
In East Gerik (Titiwangsa), I could hear more Thailand radio stations from Yala, Narathiwat, Sungai Golok, and Pattani, even Hat Yai (Songkhla) due to high elevation of R&R Titiwangsa. From Titiwangsa to Gerik town, I usually could hear Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz, meanwhile in Temenggor area after Tasik Banding, I could receive Thailand Islamic radio station Risalah Radio FM 97.25MHz from Pattani when Kelantan FM 97.3MHz Bukit Bakar frequency signal is faded and having interference.
Here are the videos of receiving Thailand radio stations in Hulu Perak, Malaysia.
1. Lawin (Radio Thailand Betong FM 93.0MHz, Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz & MCOT Yala FM 102.5MHz)
- From Pengkalan Hulu to Lenggong, Lawin is the last location to receive Thailand radio stations.
- Perak FM Lenggong frequency 94.2MHz becomes Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz when I reached Lawin, but Perak FM has gap filler transmitter in Lawin on 102.9MHz.
2. Gerik (Radio Thailand Betong FM 93.0MHz, Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz, Radio Thailand Yala FM 95.0MHz & MCOT Yala FM 102.5MHz)
- Radio Thailand Yala FM 95MHz is having interference with RTM Radio Klasik FM 94.9MHz from Gunung Jerai.
- In several locations within Gerik town, Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz has co-channel interference with Perak FM 94.2MHz from Lenggong.
- MCOT Yala FM 102.5MHz has no interference with Raaga FM 102.4MHz from Gunung Jerai in Gerik.
3. Klian Intan (Thailand Parliament Radio FM 89.0MHz, Radio Thailand Betong FM 93.0MHz, Radio Thailand Yala FM 92MHz/94.25MHz/FM 95MHz & MCOT Yala FM 102.5MHz)
All Thailand radio stations are very clear in Klian Intan.
4. Pengkalan Hulu (Thailand Parliament Radio FM 89.0MHz, Radio Thailand Yala FM 92MHz/94.25MHz)
- Thailand Parliament Radio FM 89MHz is having co-channel interference with IKIM FM 89MHz from Gunung Jerai in Pengkalan Hulu.
5. Temenggor (Risalah Radio FM 97.25MHz Pattani)
Signal was heard when I detected interference while listening to Kelantan FM 97.3MHz after Tasik Banding during departure to Gerik town.
6. R&R Titiwangsa (FM 88.25MHz Narathiwat, Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz, Attar Radio FM 104.0MHz Narathiwat, Radio Thailand Sungai Golok FM 106.5MHz, RTAF Radio FM 107.0MHz Songkhla, PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz)
