Kelantan FM is available in Perak on FM 97.3MHz from Bukit Bakar (Titiwangsa, East Gerik)

 

In 2021 and 2022, I have received RTM Kelantan FM on 97.3MHz from Bukit Bakar in numerous locations of Pahang state.

 

Outside Kelantan state, actually RTM Kelantan FM is available in neighbouring states such as part of Pahang and North Terengganu (Besut and Jerteh), however it is still receivable in part of Perak.

 

Before I recorded Kelantan FM 97.3MHz Bukit Bakar signal in Pahang state in November 2021, someone tuned Kelantan FM in Perak on the same frequency in 2019.

 

The YouTube user Senn Lens published a video of receiving Kelantan FM 97.3MHz at R&R Titiwangsa in East Gerik, Perak on 16th December 2019.

2 years and 1 month later, he performed full FM frequency band scan at R&R Titiwangsa in Gerik, Perak

The reception of Kelantan FM 97.3MHz from Bukit Bakar is still clear in Titiwangsa, Perak on Gerik-Jeli highway, meanwhile FM 102.9MHz from RTM Kota Bharu is still receivable.

 

According to Senn Lens, from Jeli to Gerik town on East-West Highway, Kelantan FM 97.3MHz (Bukit Bakar) can be tuned until Tasik Banding, then signal is disappeared.

I don't think Kelantan FM 97.3MHz can be received in Gerik town, Perak, but I'm curious towards its signal condition if I tune in Klian Intan and Pengkalan Hulu where the height elevation of these two locations are higher than Gerik town. Hence, I plan to travel to Hulu Perak (Pengkalan Hulu, Lenggong, Lawin, Gerik, and Klian Intan) next year around June 2023, then I can check it.

 

From Gerik to Kulim, I believe Kelantan FM 97.3MHz cannot be received there as the height of the land between Gerik town and Bintang Hijau Sungai Rui are lower than Pengkalan Hulu and Klian Intan. In addition, 97.3MHz is interfered by Sinar FM 97.1MHz and Kedah FM 97.5MHz which both are transmitted from Gunung Jerai.

 

About the reception of Kelantan FM 97.3MHz in Gerik town, Pengkalan Hulu and Klian Intan, I will roll them out by next year in June 2023 (in the planning), together with Perak FM.

 

In Hulu Perak, Asyik FM was originally assigned on 97.3MHz in Lenggong from Bukit Ladang Teh, but the frequency was changed to 93.1MHz in 2016. I think the transmission of FM 97.3MHz from Bukit Ladang Teh can interfere Kelantan FM 97.3MHz Bukit Bakar coverage in Jeli (especially Batu Melintang area where 90.0MHz Bukit Tangki Air becomes Thailand radio station).

 

In conclusion, Titiwangsa in East Gerik is the current available Perak locations where Kelantan FM 97.3MHz from Bukit Bakar is receivable there.
