RTM Melaka FM 102.3MHz is the most difficult Gunung Ledang radio station tuned in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan

During the departure from Port Dickson to home in Balakong on last Sunday, I passed by Mantin as I would continue my way to Beranang.

I tried my luck to DX RTM Melaka FM 102.3MHz Gunung Ledang signal in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan. During these 15 years, I had tried to receive RTM Melaka FM 102.3MHz signal in Mantin on and off, but I could not hear anything on the frequency there.

Until 19th May 2024, I finally heard RTM Melaka FM 102.3MHz signal in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan. The video was recorded at Mantin's Green Ward Cantonese village near a river of Jalan Petanian Kampung Atap Mantin.

During the video recording, I could detect the co-channel interference noise from Indonesia's Hijrah FM 102.3MHz Batam when I tuned to Melaka FM 102.3MHz in Mantin, it was tropospheric co-channel interference. However, I eliminated the interference noise of Hijrah FM 102.3MHz by moving my car.

Tuning distance is 94km from Gunung Ledang.

By comparing other Gunung Ledang radio frequencies, Melaka FM 102.3MHz is the most difficult radio station tuned in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan.

In Mantin, Melaka FM 102.3MHz may have adjacent channel interference noise of Asyik FM 102.5MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali when the listeners tune 102.3 on cheaper radio receiver.

Melaka FM 102.3MHz is only available in part of Negeri Sembilan areas such as

1. Tampin

2. Gemencheh

3. Johol

4. Gemas

5. Linggi

6. Port Dickson

7. Lukut

8. Rembau

9. Kota

10. Kuala Pilah

11. Rompin

12. Batu Kikir

13. Bandar Seri Jempol

One FM 91.3 & Kiss 92FM from Singapore received in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia

While I'm capturing Radio Niaga dan Budaya Simalungun (RBS FM) signal from Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia on FM 102.0MHz, I also receive two Singapore radio stations in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, they are not Mediacorp radio stations, but Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) radio stations.

In Port Dickson, I tune One FM 91.3 and Kiss 92 which are transmitted from Bukit Batok, Singapore, the tuning distance from Bukit Batok to Port Dickson is 254km. Previously I received Singapore radio stations signal in Pedas Linggi and Tampin, but today I break my record by tuning Singapore radio stations in Port Dickson where it is more upper than Pedas Linggi and Tampin.

The signals are MONO, but inconstantly receivable. However, Kiss 92FM seems having co-channel interference with an Indonesia radio station from Siak Regency, Riau Province (Radio RPK FM 92.0MHz), but the interference does not hold long.

While One FM 91.3 and Kiss 92FM from Singapore are the second furthest radio stations tuned in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, but Port Dickson becomes my furthest location in Negeri Sembilan to DX Singapore radio stations signal.

==2022年==

==2023年==

==2024年==

Gunung Telapak Buruk.

==Port Dickson 波德申==

==Lukut 盧骨==

==Mantin 文丁==

==Rembau 林茂==

==Kuala Pilah

==Johol 柔河==

==Gemencheh 利民濟==

==Titi 知知港==

==Pasir Panjang老港==

==Ulu Bendul, Tanjung Ipoh==

RTM Pahang FM 107.5MHz (Gunung Ulu Kali), Melaka FM 102.3MHz (Gunung Ledang), Selangor FM 100.9MHz (Gunung Ulu Kali) and KL FM 97.2MHz (Kuala Lumpur Tower) radio reception in Port Dickson & Lukut, Negeri Sembilan

Here are the videos of tuning Pahang FM, Melaka FM, Selangor FM and KL FM in Port Dickson & Lukut, Negeri Sembilan.

==Port Dickson==

1. Pahang FM 107.5MHz Gunung Ulu Kali (100km)

2. Selangor FM 100.9MHz Gunung Ulu Kali (100km)

3. Melaka FM 102.3MHz Gunung Ledang (92km)

2. Selangor FM 100.9MHz Gunung Ulu Kali (95km)

3. Melaka FM 102.3MHz Gunung Ledang (89km)

Pahang FM 107.5MHz is the weakest RTM state radio station in Port Dickson and Lukut, Negeri Sembilan.

Radio Niaga dan Budaya Simalungun (RBS FM) 102.0MHz from Pematangsiantar, Indonesia is the furthest radio station received in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia

Today on 19th May 2024, I conduct new series of FM radio DXing in Lukut and Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. This radio DXing convoy is classified as revisit series because I never been conducting radio DXing there for 7-8 years, somewhat the previous radio DXing recordings in Port Dickson were audio only videos. Hence, I decide to record the videos of receiving distant radio stations.

In Port Dickson, basically I only target to DX radio signal from Gunung Ulu Kali and Gunung Ledang, however unexpectedly I tune to an Indonesia language radio station on the frequency FM 102.0MHz at a beach near Port Dickson town center.

It is very difficult of me to identify the radio station's name of FM 102.0MHz because I couldn't get the name at all when I listen to that frequency.

As I suspect that I may hear this Indonesia radio station from Sumatra Island, therefore I search the existing radio stations which are using FM 102.0MHz within Sumatra Island.

In terms of geographical condition, possibly I may tune Radio Niaga dan Budaya Simalungun (RBS FM) from Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra Province on the frequency FM 102.0MHz.

When I listen to RBS FM 102.0MHz in Port Dickson, the radio station plays Indonesian Dangdut songs and the radio has call-in program from its listeners for songs request, intermittently it airs the information about the health.

* Frequency: FM 102.0MHz

* Power: unknown

* Transmission site: Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia

* Receiving site: Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia

* Distance: 309km

* Receiving date/time: 19th May 2024 between 1000-1100 hours (UTC+8)

RBS FM 102.0MHz from Pematangsiantar, Indonesia becomes the furthest radio station received in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.

15 years anniversary of Red FM (Peninsular Malaysia) closing down its frequency transmission in Taiping (98.2MHz) and Seremban (106.0MHz)

It is 15 years anniversary of now defunct English radio station, Red FM terminating two frequencies in Peninsular Malaysia.

Red FM was an English radio station operated by Star Media Group until September 2016 before being acquired by Astro Radio together with Capital FM.

I was Red FM's listeners from 2009 to 2012, this radio station was formerly known as RFM 91.5, RFM 104.9 and Red 104.9 between 1997 and 2008. Back to 2009, I listened to Red FM on 104.9MHz in Kuala Lumpur, meanwhile I would tune to 106.0MHz when I came to Negeri Sembilan (Mantin, Nilai and Seremban).

15 years ago, Red FM closed down Taiping frequency 98.2MHz, following by Seremban frequency 106.0MHz. Then, Red FM in Taiping and Seremban was tuned on 98.1MHz and 104.9MHz respectively, but the radio signal was not so clear. The main reason of Red FM terminated the transmission in these two locations was low listenership rating in Negeri Sembilan and interference in North Malaysia, let's read the background by frequency.

==Red FM 98.2MHz Taiping frequency==

* Transmitted from Bukit Larut at 1kW transmitter power, it was closed in May 2009 due to interference to the coverage of 98.1MHz Gunung Jerai transmitter in Kedah and Penang. Although Red FM could be tuned via 107.6MHz from Bukit Penara in the affected location where 98.1MHz Gunung Jerai and 98.2MHz Bukit Larut were interfering each other, but 98.2MHz Bukit Larut transmission badly interfered against 98.1MHz Gunung Jerai transmission in Kedah state.

* Star Radio Group increased transmission power of Red FM 98.1MHz Gunung Jerai transmitter to 10kW, then Red FM Taiping frequency 98.2MHz was terminated its transmission. As Red FM and 988 in Bukit Larut were sharing a RF combiner, 988 was forced to close down its Taiping frequency FM 101.0MHz for a year in order to dismantle the transmitter system of Red FM 98.2MHz from June 2009 to July 2010.

* After the termination of Red FM 98.2MHz Bukit Larut transmitter, Red FM's listeners had to tune on 98.1MHz from Gunung Jerai in Taiping. Although Penang frequency 107.6MHz from Bukit Penara could be received there, but the signal was less clearer than 98.1MHz Gunung Jerai.

* Although Red FM in Teluk Intan was covered by Gunung Kledang transmitter on the frequency 106.4MHz, but back to February 2009, I was used to receive Red FM Taiping frequency 98.2MHz from Bukit Larut in Teluk Intan while I was celebrating Chinese New Year in Teluk Intan, meanwhile RTM Klasik Nasional (now Radio Klasik) FM 98.3MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali was having interference.

* RDS text was "RED 104.9" when I tuned Red FM on 98.2MHz in Teluk Intan 15 years ago.

==Red FM 106.0MHz Seremban frequency==

* Transmitted from Gunung Telapak Buruk at 0.5kW transmitter power. I was used to tune this frequency from 2004 to 2009 randomly in Kuala Lumpur, Balakong, Seri Kembangan, Nilai, and Mantin, the audio of Red FM 106.0MHz was softer than 104.9MHz. back then.

* RDS text of Red FM 106.0MHz was "RED 104.9", but AF (alternative frequency" was malfunction as it was unable to switch to 104.9MHz automatically when Red FM 106.0MHz signal was weak in Kuala Lumpur.

* Red FM 106.0MHz Seremban frequency was terminated in June 2009 due to commercial reason. I guessed that it was due to poor radio listenership rating in Negeri Sembilan, causing Red FM to close down Negeri Sembilan frequency transmission. Since then, Negeri Sembilan listeners had to tune to Red FM on either 104.9MHz Gunung Ulu Kali or 98.9MHz Gunung Ledang. The frequency license of 106.0MHz was returned to MCMC, and FM 106.0MHz was vacated in Negeri Sembilan until 25th October 2016. Then, Red FM Seremban frequency 106.0MHz was reused by a Chinese language business radio station CityPlus FM, and CityPlus FM is transmitted from Gunung Telapak Buruk at 1kW transmitter power.

* Red FM 104.9MHz was given 10kW transmitter power since May 2009, transmitted from Gunung Ulu Kali. Red FM could be tuned in Seremban on 104.9MHz, but less clear. Unlike Red FM, current Zayan FM 104.9MHz transmitter power is decreased to 2kW, ordered by MCMC.

After 5 years of Red FM Taiping and Seremban frequencies termination, Red FM ceased its Penang frequency transmission on 107.6MHz and the frequency was taken over by its sister radio station, Capital FM, but Red FM was still available in Penang on 98.1MHz.

Red FM was ceased transmission on 31st December 2015, then it was acquired by Astro Radio since September 2016 and rebranded as Zayan (Malay language Modern Muslim radio station) since October 2017. For Zayan, the listeners in Negeri Sembilan have to tune on either 104.9MHz or 98.9MHz, meanwhile Taiping is on 98.1MHz.

==Frequencies of Red FM Malaysia (currently known as Zayan)==

* 104.9MHz Klang Valley/South Perak/West Pahang (Gunung Ulu Kali)

* 98.1MHz Penang/Kedah/Perlis (Gunung Jerai)

* 106.4MHz Ipoh (Gunung Kledang)

* 98.9MHz Melaka/North Johor (Gunung Ledang)

* 92.8MHz Johor Bahru/Singapore (Gunung Pulai)

* 91.6MHz Kuantan/Kemaman (Bukit Pelindung)

==Former Red FM frequencies==

* 103.2MHz: Langkawi (Gunung Raya)- Closed since year 2000

* 101.2MHz: Tapah (Changkat Rembian)- Closed since year 2000

* 98.2MHz: Taiping (Bukit Larut) - Closed since May 2009

* 106.0MHz: Negeri Sembilan (Gunung Telapak Buruk)- Closed since June 2009

Mediacorp can launch its indie music radio station, IndieGo on the frequency FM 99.5MHz to succeed Lush 99.5FM.

Do you remember Lush 99.5FM?

7 years ago, Mediacorp ceased Lush 99.5FM as part of its rationalization towards radio station network. From 1st September 2017 until today, the frequency FM 99.5MHz is vacated and unused by any Singapore new radio player.

In December 2021, Mediacorp launched an online only indie radio station which plays indie pop, hip-hop and rock songs, known as "indiego", actually Mediacorp IndieGo is a spiritual successor of Lush 99.5FM, but it is not available on frequency transmission platform.

Among all English radio segment of Mediacorp radio network, Mediacorp has 5 English languages radio stations currently on FM radio frequency platform with different format such as:

* Gold 90.5FM (Classic hits)

* Symphony 92.4FM (Classical music)

* Class 95FM (Adult contemporary)

* 987FM (Latest hits and hot contemporary)

* CNA 93.8FM (News)

If Mediacorp reuses FM 99.5MHz for IndieGo, Mediacorp will have 6 English language radio stations, meanwhile Singapore will have 20 radio stations.

7 years ago, Mediacorp announced to merge Singapore indie music to CNA 93.8 and 987FM after closing Lush 99.5FM, but Mediacorp launched IndieGo 4 years after as online only radio station. To reach more listeners who love indie music, Mediacorp can launch IndieGo on FM 99.5MHz, but the frequency approval is subject to the decision of IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) as frequency award is based on a tender by IMDA.

Many years ago, IMDA had an opened tender of vacant frequencies FM 89.3MHz, FM 92.0MHz and FM 96.3MHz to new radio players who are interested to broadcast, at last Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) won the tender, so FM 92.0MHz is Kiss92, FM 89.3MHz is Money FM, and FM 96.3MHz is Hao FM.

The participants had to submit their proposal of the radio format to IMDA, then the only nominated radio players are awarded the frequency by IMDA.

What do you think if Mediacorp launches IndieGo on FM 99.5MHz?

RTM can reuse its former Sarawak FM's shortwave frequency SW 9835kHz to broadcast exclusively Talidio Kenyah and Radio Kayan in order to allow both programs have more airtime for Kenyah and Kayan community in Sarawak.

RTM closed down Sarawak FM's shortwave frequency SW 9835kHz since mid-2022 due to conversion to DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale).

Until today, SW 9835kHz is not used by RTM Sarawak FM.

Currently Talidio Kenyah is struggling to extend its broadcast airtime on radio platform (Miri FM) due to limited broadcast schedule, even Radio Kayan on Miri FM's frequency is unable to have full airtime like Wai FM Kayan in Kuching and Serian.

To reach more Kayan and Kenyah communities in deep rural areas where have no coverage of existing FM radio transmission, RTM can relaunch its shortwave frequency SW 9835kHz to air Radio Kayan and Talidio Kenyah as an individual radio station.

By not mentioning "Belaga FM", Radio Kayan/Talidio Kenyah SW 9835kHz can become 35th RTM radio station.

The relaunch of SW 9835kHz for Talidio Kenyah/Radio Kayan will allow Orang Ulu people (Kayan and Kenyah) in rural areas to access the information and entertainment via radio. In addition, it also allows Radio Kayan and Talidio Kenyah to extend their broadcast airtime as they broadcast independently and individually.

Alongside SW 9835kHz, RTM can launch Talidio Kenyah and Radio Kayan on independent FM frequency for Miri Division by launching transmitter in Bukit Lambir and RTM Miri, while Bukit TT844 Suai is an optional.

About the airtime, here is my suggested broadcast schedule of RTM radio station on SW 9835kHz and new FM frequency in Miri.

SW 9835kHz can just broadcast from 0600-0000 hours, while 0000-0600 hours is off air.

* 0600-1200 hours: Talidio Kenyah

* 1200-1800 hours: Radio Kayan

* 1800-2100 hours: Talidio Kenyah

* 2100-0000 hours: Radio Kayan

* 0000-0600 hours: Relay Sarawak FM (SW 9835kHz can off air from 0000-0600 hours)

For FM broadcast in Miri, I suggest FM 107.6MHz in Bukit Lambir for Radio Kayan and Talidio Kenyah to cover Miri city.

As I was told that Miri has no Bidayuh residents, so I don't suggest this new radio station to relay Wai FM Bidayuh during non-broadcast hours of Radio Kayan and Talidio Kenyah.

Regarding the name, I suggest "Wai FM Kayan/Kenyah" which is exclusively for Miri Division, while SW 9835kHz for entire Borneo.

If Radio Kayan and Talidio Kenyah broadcast on new frequency, so Miri FM can relay Wai FM Iban program "Rentak Ngalih Hari" from 3pm to 6pm.

Hope RTM can place consideration of launching Wai FM Kayan/Kenyah on SW 9835kHz and a new FM frequency in Miri.

* Frekuensi: FM 92.6MHz

* Kuasa pemancar: 2kW

* Tempat pemancar: Gunung Telapak Buruk, Negeri Sembilan

* Tempat penerima: Kampung Tekek, Pulau Tioman, Pahang

* Jarak: 232km
