My 16 favorite Chinese songs in 1990

This cassette album was published by Polygram Records in 1990, this album features 16 of famous Chinese songs in 1990, which under Polygram. It is my all time favorite album since I was 5 until today...

About the songs, their melodies gave me much of impression and memories of my past moments.

Actually I listen to these album during windy and post-rainy day..

I owned the tape formerly when I was 5 during 1999 Chinese New Year.

<The songs of this album are listed on the above, which is Chinese version article>

When I was a kid, I did not really know about the radio stations. So, I was only listening to the tape and CD at that time.

The most impressive moment was I always played this tape album in the car when I went to Petaling Jaya with my family for visiting my relatives. In addition, another impressive moment was I sang Andy Lau- If you were my legend (Track A1)..

I also listened to this tape album after working when on the way driving back home while stuck in traffic jam for present day.

Seriously I listened to this album about 17 years, from 1999 until now.

These 16 songs in this tape album are relaxing, memorable, mature, impressive and windy. In addition, it emphasized about serious attitude. It also makes me to stop to listen today crappy Chinese songs...

Malaysia Chinese radio stations like RTM Ai FM, 988 and Melody FM also plays these 16 songs randomly and occasionally,

Kool FM memainkan lagu tempatan dan antarabangsa daripada 1980-an, 1990-an, 2000-an dan terbaru.

Mengenai frekuensinya, Kool FM hanya bersiaran pada 101.3MHz dari Bukit Sungai Besi untuk Lembah Klang dan 90.2MHz dari Bukit Penara untuk Pulau Pinang.

Banyak pendengar asyik bertanya...

- Seluruh Melaka
- Johor: Muar, Tangkak, Batu Pahat, Kluang dan Segamat
- Negeri Sembilan: Kuala Pilah, Gemas, Tampin, Rembau, Bahau, Jempol, Kuala Klawang dan Jelebu Timur
- Pahang: Keratong

BFM Gunung Ledang market

Previously I had suggested 100.9MHz to BFM for Gunung Ledang transmitter to cover Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan..

100.9MHz is a good frequency to cover Melaka, North Johor and Negeri Sembilan, but it is not so good to cover Johor Bahru because of Minnal FM 101.1MHz Gunung Pulai frequency.

Because Gunung Pulai has no empty frequency, so new broadcasters have to use Gunung Ledang to cover Johor Bahru with weaker signal.

In addition, Negeri Sembilan has less commercial market to BFM 89.9... If BFM launch 100.9MHz in Gn Ledang, market value is not high. The coverage only goes up to Simpang Renggam.

91.5MHz is better to be used in Gunung Ledang because no any Gunung Pulai stations use surrounding 91.5MHz...

BFM 91.5MHz Gn Ledang can go up to some Johor Bahru areas, rather than 100.9MHz.

About 91.5MHz, I suggested it to Kool FM previously, now suggest to exchange each other.

In Negeri Sembilan, BFM 89.9Mhz can be received in most of areas including Gemas, Bahau and Serting. In addition, BFM 89.9MHz still can be listened in some Melaka and Johor areas like Segamat

Result of radio frequency analysis of Bukit Palong FM 103.1MHz with high power

Recently I had tested certain parameters of Bukit Palong FM 103.1MHz with high power.

Here are the optional powers list: 10kW, 15kW and 20kW.

==Background of Bukit Palong, Kedah==
Latitide: 05° 36' 29"N
Longitude: 100° 55' 21"E
District: Baling
State: Kedah
Location: Nearby Kedah-Perak border
Target coverage: Baling, Kedah.

==RF analysis of Bukit Palong Kedah FM 103.1MHz==
- Bukit Larut 103.3MHz: NO INTERFERENCE
- Songkhla 103.25MHz: NO INTERFERENCE
- Padang Pauh 102.9MHz: NO INTERFERENCE

==Coverage analysis of Bukit Palong with 10kW power==

==Field strength result of Bukit Palong FM 103.1MHz with 10kW power (dBuV/m)==
- Bayan Lepas: 42
- Georgetown: 46
- Bukit Mertajam: 51

==Coverage analysis of Bukit Palong FM 103.1MHz with 15kW power==

==Field strength result of Bukit Palong FM 103.1MHz with 15kW power (dBuV/m)==
- Baling (85)
- Kepala Batas (54)
- Georgetown (47)
- Juru (50)
- Bukit Mertajam (54)
- Nibong Tebal (47)
- Batu Feringghi (46)
- Bayan Lepas (44)
- Alor Setar (43)
- Taiping (42)

==Coverage analysis of Bukit Palong FM 103.1MHz with 20kW power==

==Field strength of Bukit Palong FM 103.1MHz with 20kW power==
- Bukit Mertajam (54)
- Alor Setar (44)
- Sg Petani (60)
- Nibong Tebal (49)
- Batu Feringghi (49)
- Bayan Lepas (45)
- Taiping (44)
- Kulim (60)
- Butterworth (52)
- Perai (50)
- Juru (52)
- Baling (87)
- Parit Buntar (48)
- Pengkalan Hulu (78)
- Ipoh (37)
- Georgetown (49)

Based on the coverage analysis above, there is nothing difference of field strength analysis between 15kW and 20kW. In addition, Bukit Palong can cover only East Kedah like Baling, Sik and North East Perak like Gerik, Pengkalan Hulu, Belum.

In terms of commercial value, Bukit Palong is not high as Gunung Jerai, Alor Setar Tower and Bukit Penara because coverage of population is small.

The source is based on fmscan.org roughly calculation. For more expert analysis, a professional broadcasting frequency interference and coverage analysis software is required which features directional antenna analysis function.

In conclusion, Bukit Palong cannot cover Penang with minimum field strength 54dBuV/m.

Penang is large city and urban state, minimum field strength 54dBuV/m (STEREOPHONIC PROPAGATION). Based on analysis above, most of Penang large cities and urban towns field strength are unable to reach 54dBuV/m.

Here is the requirement of field strength, based on ITU recommendation:

Previously I attempted to help analyze Bukit Palong FM 103.1MHz for BFM 89.9 to cover Penang, also submitted roughly calculation of radio parameters to telecommunication regulator, MCMC. I had contacted with related person in charge which are from spectrum department, I also got same result from them. The analysis of Bukit Palong 103.1MHz 10kW also showed same answer, even 15kW and 20kW that I made.

Although the field strength analysis of Bukit Palong FM 103.1MHz with 10kW, 15kW and 20kW power in Penang urban towns above, where get between 43-53dBuV/m, the reception are in MONO.

MONO propagation will not give clear reception. 54dBuV/m is the minimum field strength of Stereo reception.

In conclusion, I recommend BFM to broadcast in Bukit Tokun FM 103.0MHz to cover Penang, instead of Bukit Palong, perhaps Bukit Tokun has higher commercial values.

BFM Johor Bahru frequency

In Johor Bahru, there is many radio stations, from Gunung Pulai, Singapore and Batam. It is difficult to seek empty frequencies in Johor Bahru.

Currently I get only FM 88.6MHz, FM 89.3MHz, FM 107.2MHz and FM 107.9MHz which are empty frequencies, but certain of them are not suitable to be used due to some reason.

FM 88.6MHz: Too close to Singapore radio station, 300kHz left and right, cause 88.6MHz is being interfered.

FM 89.3MHz: It's basically an empty frequency which can be used in Gunung Pulai, but this frequency is being reserved by Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore as 20th radio station in Singapore in the future. Back to March 2011, MDA opened for public tender to allocate FM 89.3MHz and FM 92.0MHz, but in 2012, Kiss 92 FM from Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) was awarded on FM 92.0MHz. Currently 89.3MHz is not used by Singapore yet. To get FM 89.3MHz in Gunung Pulai, BFM and Malaysia have to get approval from Singapore in order to use 89.3MHz.

FM 107.2MHz: It's also an empty frequency too, but it is also too close with Bernama Radio24 FM 107.5MHz in Gunung Pulai. It needs high pass filter to reduce interference. In addition, 107.2MHz only can be used in TM Taman Sentosa or Metropolis Tower. If 107.2MHz locate in Gunung Pulai, it will cause heavy interference to Melody FM 107.3MHz Gunung Ledang.

FM 107.9MHz: It's an empty frequency, but it is too closed with aircraft band as Singapore and Johor Bahru airport are using FM 107.9MHz. If 107.9MHz is used in Gunung Pulai for broadcasting purpose, it can interfere aircraft navigation, and cause major flight incident. To let broadcaster to use FM 107.9MHz in Gunung Pulai for broadcasting, the Singapore and Johor Bahru aircraft must change the frequency.

After the explanation, in my opinion, only 89.3MHz and 107.2MHz can be used. FM 89.3MHz needs to get approval from Singapore.

==BFM Johor Bahru parameter (1st)==
Frequency: FM 89.3MHz
Power: 2kW
Transmitting location: Gunung Pulai
Coverage: South Johor, Singapore and Batam

==BFM Johor Bahru parameter (2nd)==
Frequency: FM 107.2MHz
Power: 1kW
Transmitting location: TM Taman Sentosa or Metropolis Tower
Coverage: Johor Bahru

On February 2016, I got result from MCMC about Johor Bahru parameters, all are failed due to major interference. I submitted FM 88.6MHz, 90.9MHz and 107.8MHz.

IKIM FM 89.0MHz will migrate its transmitter site to Upper Gunung Jerai on June 2016

Currently IKIM FM 89.0MHz transmitter site is located in Lower Jerai, but it only cover Kedah and Perlis, meanwhile Penang cannot receive 89.0MHz from Lower Jerai.. Penang need to get 102.7MHz from Bukit Genting, but signal is weak.

According the some news, IKIM FM will move to Upper Jerai, start from June 2016.

89.0MHz can be received in Penang and North Perak, started from June 2016.

Taiping will have one more frequency, alongside with Ipoh Gunung Kledang FM 102.7MHz. Listeners in Taiping can tune either 89.0MHz or 102.7MHz.. If IKIM FM 102.7MHz interfere between Gunung Kledang and Bukit Genting, listeners can tune to 89.0MHz from Upper Jerai.
