 馬來西亞歷史最悠久的中文電台, 國營電台RTM愛FM (Ai FM)是全國覆蓋範圍最廣的中文電台. 不像其他的中文電台, 愛FM的覆蓋範圍也專注在郊外和內陸地區, 因為愛FM屬於國營電台(RTM), 扮演政府對人民傳達信息的重要角色, 反而其他的中文電台是屬於私營, 他們的覆蓋範圍只專注在重要城市, 私營電台是走商業路線的.

 

愛FM的官方網站列出的收聽頻率地區其實涵蓋重要地區, 但其實它還有更多的收聽頻率, 只不過沒有在官方網站列出而已.

 

我會列出愛FM所有的收聽頻率, 包括那些神秘頻率.

Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz received in Melaka, Malaysia.

 

Recently there are a lot of tropospheric propagation FM radio stations from Indonesia received in Melaka, Malaysia, even Batam based Hang FM 106.0MHz already "invaded" in Melaka by interfering CityPlus FM signal.

 

In Melaka, Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz signal is receivable, but tropospheric season.

 

Based on the footage taken, RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz signal is quite not bad with mild statics around Portuguese Settlement in Ujung Pasir where it is not far from Melaka City. 

No interference from RTM Johor FM 105.3MHz Gunung Ledang transmitter was heard so far when tuning RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz in Melaka as Johor FM 105.3MHz Gunung Ledang signal propagation is having co-channel interference with Suria FM 105.3MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali.

This is my first time to hear RRI PRO-1 Batam FM 105.1MHz received in Melaka which filmed by Kelvin Lee who is a DXer from Melaka.

Among all Batam radio stations, in terms of stability, RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz is the most powerful, clearest and strongest radio station heard in Melaka, Malaysia. 

繼CityPlus FM最近爆出主持人全離職的消息被傳出後, 其電台頻率FM 106.0MHz的訊號在馬六甲被印尼伊斯蘭電台Hang FM入侵.

 

最近我發現到CityPlus FM爆出許多主持人(DJ)離職的消息, 在電台從第一天廣播到現在, 也是最久的主持人Emily黃佩玲也公開宣布在2022年5月27日最後一天當班, 連她的排檔和同事也一起離職.

 

身為外人和前聽眾的我, 我發現到這些離職潮除了個人因素之外, 其實我覺得問題都是來自高層.

 

今天的話題焦點不是放在CityPlus FM的DJ全離職的消息, 而是我的焦點是CityPlus FM 106.0MHz的訊號在馬六甲和森美蘭西南部一帶被印尼伊斯蘭電台Hang FM 106.0MHz入侵. 

 

其實CityPlus FM的收聽頻道的範圍都是在森美蘭州和雪隆區南部, 頻率為FM 106.0MHz, 發射地點是在Gunung Telapak Burok和傳輸功率只有1kW (1公瓦). 

 

由於雪隆區沒有空的電台頻率, 所以CityPlus FM 106.0MHz 在Gunung Telapak Burok發射, 並對西北方向來覆蓋雪隆區, 但不是所有的巴生谷地區可以聽到這家電台. 我在吉隆坡聽這家電台都不清, 訊號比Fly FM 98.6MHz和Negeri FM 92.6MHz來得差.

 

Gunung Telapak Burok的發射其實還是可以覆蓋馬六甲和柔佛小部份的地區. 由於CityPlus FM 106.0MHz的發射天線是對西北方向發射, 所以馬六甲地區是很難收到CityPlus FM的.

 

雖然馬六甲不是CityPlus FM 106.0MHz的服務對象, 但馬六甲還有地區可以聽到.

 

跟其他的森美蘭電台 (同發射地點)比如Lite FM 104.6MHz, Era FM 103.6MHz, Sinar FM 96.9MHz, Negeri FM 92.6MHz和MY FM 100.6MHz比較, CityPlus FM 106.0MHz在馬六甲比他們更加弱.   

更加令人難以置信的是CityPlus FM 106.0MHz在馬六甲的訊號被印尼巴淡島的伊斯蘭電台Hang FM 106.0MHz入侵, 所以在馬六甲收聽CityPlus FM 106.0MHz的聽眾會聽到印尼穆斯林念古蘭經的聲音. 

CityPlus FM 106.0MHz的訊號被入侵的地區是在馬六甲市中心. 根據提供的短片, 在馬六甲聽到CityPlus FM 106.0MHz會有Hang FM 106.0MHz的雜音, 但該短片顯示出CityPlus FM 106.0MHz的訊號完全被這家印尼伊斯蘭電台入侵, 所以打開106.0, 會聽到印尼語的宗教談話和古蘭經文的節目.

Hang FM 106.0MHz是來自印尼的巴淡島 (Batam), 發射功率為10kW, 這家電台可以在新加坡, 印尼Karimun群島和柔佛中南部收到. 在新加坡, 因為國安因素 (Hang FM曾經被指控散播恐怖極端主義), Hang FM在新加坡的訊號是被封鎖.

其實我也曾經在馬六甲的望萬(Bemban)和野新 (Jasin)聽著CityPlus FM 106.0MHz都會聽到Hang FM的雜音, 甚至我在森美蘭仁保 (Jempol)的Felda Sungai Lui路段會聽見CityPlus FM 106.0MHz跟Hang FM產生同頻率干擾的聲音.

 

還有巴登馬六甲 (Batang Melaka)和利民濟的Bukit Rokan也發生同樣的情況. 

 

CityPlus FM 106.0MHz訊號在Jasin, Bemban和Batang Melaka被Hang FM入侵其實不是很出奇, 因為Gunung Telapak Burok的電台傳輸在這些地區是很弱的. 最稀奇的是跳台和訊號入侵事件發生在馬六甲市中心, Lubok Cina, Pedas, Linggi和Rembau一帶.

 

掀起離職潮, 然後訊號在馬六甲被印尼電台入侵, 雖然兩個都是不同的事情, 但事情的發生非常巧合吧!

 

如果CityPlus FM要服務馬六甲, 發射天線必須調整, 就是對南發射, 也同時可以對抗印尼電台Hang FM. 

回到離職潮的話題, 看起來CityPlus FM未來的路是很不容易. 如果這家這樣下去, 恐怕很吃力. 一旦無法繼續走下去, 這家電台恐怕會停播.

如果CityPlus FM停播, 在我的看法, 其頻道106.0MHz可以讓給首要媒體的8FM. 因為8FM目前的森美蘭收聽頻道88.3的覆蓋範圍只限芙蓉地區, 其他的森美蘭州地區幾乎收不到88.3, 反而88.1的訊號充滿干擾的. 正巧首要媒體Media Prima Audio和CityPlus FM的公司(OOGA X)簽訂獨家轉售協議和內容合作, 如果收購交易得到MCMC的批准, 其實8FM可以接替CityPlus FM 106.0MHz來取代覆蓋範圍極小的88.3, 所以森美蘭全地區可以通過頻率FM 106.0MHz收到8FM, 同時也迅速解決 8FM在森美蘭和馬六甲西北部的收聽問題.

 

通過這樣的頻率收購建議, CityPlus FM的內容可以併入在8FM的節目當中, 所以8FM的節目會很豐富, 資訊財經時事和娛樂會在一起, 跟988一樣.

Receiving Indonesia radio stations in Kinta Highlands, Perak, Malaysia (1st May 2022)

 

Before heading to Lojing Highlands to run FM DX activity, I dropped by Kinta Highlands, Perak for a small break and expanding FM DX content.

 

In October 2021, someone named DX Radio Malaysia published few videos which received Indonesia FM radio stations in Kinta Highlands, Perak, Malaysia. He caught Suara Medan FM 94.7MHz, Radio Mutiara Kartika FM 100.3MHz, Radio Maria Indonesia FM 104.2MHz, RRI Medan PRO-2 FM 92.4MHz, and Delta FM 105.8MHz from Medan.

I did receive few same radio stations in Kinta Highlands as his one such as Suara Medan FM 94.7MHz, Radio Mutiara Kartika FM 100.3MHz and Radio Maria Indonesia FM 104.2MHz, but I expanded the content by receiving Radio Jawa (Raja FM) 107.7MHz from Medan and Radio DSB FM 93.8MHz from Deli Serdang.

Here are the 5 Indonesia radio stations which I received in Kinta Highlands, Perak, Malaysia on 1st May 2022.

1. Radio Jawa (Raja FM) 107.7MHz from Medan (321km)

Kinta Highlands is my third location of receiving Radio Jawa FM 107.7MHz after Teluk Intan and Bagan Datuk. Adjacent channel interference with GoXUAN FM 107.6MHz from Bukit Penara can be detected in Kinta Highlands (nearby Banjaran Cafe).

2. Radio Mutiara Kartika FM 100.3MHz from Medan (320km)

 

Co-channel interference with Pahang FM 100.3MHz from Gunung Brinchang can be detected in Kinta Highlands. 

My second location to receive Mutiara Kartika FM 100.3MHz after Sitiawan, Perak, Malaysia.

3. Radio Suara Medan FM 94.7MHz from Medan (321km)

Same receiving condition as what I received in Teluk Intan and Sitiawan because Radio Suara Medan FM 94.7MHz is having co-channel interference with RTM Perak FM 94.7MHz from Gunung Brinchang in Kinta Highlands, Perak, Malaysia.

4. Radio Maria Indonesia FM 104.2MHz from Medan (319km)

My very first location to receive Radio Maria Indonesia FM 104.2MHz, same content as DX Radio Malaysia video before, but different radio receiver. Back to November 2021, I attempted to record this radio station in Tringkap, Cameron Highlands, Pahang, but I couldn't do it because I was driving and phone was overheating due to sunlight exposure.

5. Radio DSB FM 93.8MHz from Deli Serdang (297km)

3rd location to receive Radio DSB FM 93.8MHz from Deli Serdang after Sitiawan and Bagan Datuk. STEREO signal was appeared during receiving in Kinta Highlands, Perak, Malaysia.  

 

Among 5 Indonesia radio stations that I tuned in Kinta Highlands, Radio DSB FM 93.8MHz is the clearest, following by Radio Maria Indonesia FM 104.2MHz and Radio Jawa (Raja FM) 107.7MHz, meanwhile Suara Medan FM 94.7MHz and Mutiara Kartika FM 100.3MHz reception were pretty unstable due to co-channel interference with RTM Perak FM and Pahang FM from Gunung Brinchang respectively. 

 

==Indonesia radio stations signal condition in Kinta Highlands, Perak, Malaysia== (from best to worst)

* 1st: Radio DSB FM 93.8MHz (Deli Serdang)

* 2nd: Radio Maria Indonesia FM 104.2MHz (Medan)

* 3rd: Radio Jawa/Raja FM 107.7MHz (Medan)

* 4th: Mutiara Kartika FM 100.3MHz (Medan)

* 5th: Suara Medan FM 94.7MHz 

 

 

Revisiting Lojing Highlands, Kelantan (PART 4): Tuning to East Coast Malay radio stations (Manis FM, THR Gegar & Molek FM)

It is more competitive of East Coast Malay radio stations segment nowadays when Molek FM from Media Prima joins this radio segment since January 2022. 

The East Coast Malay language radio stations Manis FM, THR Gegar and Molek FM are having frequency in Kelantan (mainly Kota Bharu), covering North and Central Kelantan mostly, meanwhile their coverage are weak in South Kelantan (Gua Musang). 

While Manis FM, THR Gegar and Molek FM are competing each other in Kota Bharu and North Kelantan fiercely, although Gua Musang district (including Lojing) is not their broadcast area, but they can compete in that district in terms of signal propagation.

Before I revisited Lojing Highlands, I might not expect to receive Molek FM, and Gegar due to geographical condition. I already knew Manis FM could be heard in Lojing Highlands via 90.6MHz from Tunjung because my car radio receiver detected it, but I never recorded it yet.

Unexpectedly, during Lojing Highlands revisit, I could receive Molek FM 105.1MHz and THR Gegar FM 88.1MHz at Lojing Mosque. Here are the videos of receiving 3 East Coast Malay radio stations:

1. Manis FM 90.6MHz KBX Tunjung (184km) 

2. THR Gegar FM 88.1MHz Bukit Panau (166km)

3. Molek FM 105.1MHz Peringat (185km)

Among three radio stations, Manis FM 90.6MHz is the most stable one in Lojing Highlands in terms of signal propagation quality, despite its audio quality is not good as THR Gegar and Molek FM. 

Manis FM 90.6MHz has no interference with RTM Nasional FM 90.7MHz from Felda Paloh (East Gua Musang) in Lojing so far.

THR Gegar FM 88.1MHz and Molek FM 105.1MHz signal are pretty unstable in Lojing Highlands, Kelantan due to co-channel interference with other radio stations.

THR Gegar FM 88.1MHz from Bukit Panau is having co-channel interference with RTM Kelantan FM 88.1MHz from Felda Paloh (East Gua Musang) in Lojing Highlands like the interference happens in Kuala Krai-Gua Musang border.

For Molek FM, its Kota Bharu frequency 105.1MHz from Peringat is having co-channel interference with RTM Asyik FM 105.1MHz from Gunung Brinchang (Cameron Highlands).

Listeners who tune to Molek FM 105.1MHz and THR Gegar FM 88.1MHz in Lojing Highlands, Kelantan must use good quality radio receiver antenna and they need to adjust the antenna in proper direction. Otherwise, they can hear more interference.

Receiving Indonesia FM radio stations in Sungai Ayer Tawar, Selangor, Malaysia. FM 107.3MHz and FM 88.6MHz signal were detected.

During Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday, I had crossed with 4 states actually such as Selangor, Perak, Pahang and Kelantan.

 

On 1st May 2022,

Balakong, Selangor>>Perak (pass through)>>Cameron Highlands, Pahang (pass through)>>Lojing Highlands, Kelantan>>Teluk Intan, Perak

 

On 3rd May 2022,

Teluk Intan, Perak>>Sungai Ayer Tawar, Selangor>>Teluk Intan, Perak 

 

After Lojing Highlands revisit, I visited my Malay school friend for Raya celebration at his hometown in Sungai Ayer Tawar, Selangor (within Sabak Bernam). I departed early from Teluk Intan to Sungai Ayer Tawar was to perform FM DX on Indonesia radio stations signal at the seaside (Pantai Sungai Lang) in the morning, but unsuccessful due to the rain. Hence, I visited to my friend's village first. 

 

Before departing to Teluk Intan, I revisited again Pantai Sungai Lang for FM DXing in order to catch Indonesia radio stations signal. 

Most of my targeted Indonesia radio stations such as Suara Medan FM 94.7MHz, Mutiara Kartika FM 100.3MHz, Radio DSB FM 93.8MHz, RRI Medan PRO-2 FM 92.4MHz and Radio Jawa (Raja FM) 107.7MHz were not receivable, however I caught two Indonesia radio stations at Pantai Sungai Lang, Sungai Ayer Tawar, Selangor, Malaysia.

 

1. Radio Nastra FM 88.6MHz from Langkat

2. Radio Al-Fatih FM 107.3MHz from Medan

 

Radio Nastra FM 88.6MHz from Pangkalan Susu, Langkat, Indonesia signal was loud, heard clearly at Pantai Sungai Lang, Selangor, meanwhile Radio Al-Fatih FM 107.3MHz can be heard, but weaker.

 

No interference from any local adjacent radio stations were found so far. 

For Medan based Indonesia radio station Radio Al-Fatih FM 107.3MHz, Sungai Ayer Tawar is my 4th location in Malaysia to receive the station after Teluk Intan, Bagan Datuk and Sitiawan where I checked during Chinese New Year in January and February 2022.

Revisit Lojing Highlands, Kelantan (PART 3): Receiving Gunung Ledang and Bukit Besar radio stations (TROPO DX)

 

At Lojing mosque in Lojing Highland, Kelantan where I revisited on 1st May 2022 (a day before "Hurry Raya"), Fly FM 87.9MHz from Gunung Kledang signal check was my core target, following by Molek FM 105.1MHz, Gegar FM 88.1MHz and Manis FM 90.6MHz, but there are about 5 ultra far radio stations which I received in Lojing Highlands unexpectedly.

 

3 radio stations from Gunung Ledang (Melaka/North Johor), meanwhile 2 radio stations are from Bukit Besar (Kuala Terengganu). These unexpected radio stations are actually a tropospheric propagation signal, copied in Lojing.

 

==Distance of transmitter site to Lojing Highlands, Kelantan==

* Gunung Ledang: 279km

* Bukit Besar: 204km 

 

1. Radio Klasik FM 93.6MHz Gunung Ledang

Co-channel interference with weak signal radio station Molek FM 93.6MHz from Bukit Besar can be heard.

 

In Lojing Highlands, FM 95.5MHz Bukit Bakar is the clearest tuning frequency for Radio Klasik, following by FM 88.3MHz from Gunung Kledang and FM 89.1MHz from Gunung Brinchang.

 

FM 88.3MHz from Gunung Kledang is moderately receivable (clear with static), but no interference with other radio station like Gunung Brinchang FM 89.1MHz which having interference with Thailand Parliament Radio Station FM 89.0MHz.

2. Molek FM 93.6MHz Bukit Besar

Signal is not strong as FM 105.1MHz from Kota Bharu, but less serious of co-channel interference.

 

3. Raaga FM 99.7MHz Gunung Ledang

Tropospheric signal overlaps 988 FM 99.8MHz Gunung Kledang transmitter is detected.

 

4. IKIM FM 100.2MHz Bukit Besar

Adjacent channel interference with RTM Pahang FM 100.3MHz from Gunung Brinchang can be detected, but IKIM FM can be tuned louder and clearer via Ipoh frequency 102.7MHz from Gunung Kledang. 

5. RTM Negeri FM 107.7MHz Gunung Ledang

 

Signal was moderately clear with MONO signal, no interference from any adjacent station was detected so far.

Revisit Lojing Highlands, Kelantan (PART 2): FM DXing on Thailand radio stations

 

During Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2022 holiday, I revisited Lojing Highlands, Kelantan before going back to Teluk Intan, Perak and visiting my friend's kampung in Sabak Bernam, Selangor.

 

This Lojing Highlands revisit was planned in January 2022 and the purpose of the revisit is to expand more distant radio signal monitoring with more radio stations as I was not able to do FM DXing there in November 2021 trip due to heavy rain.

 

On 15th November 2021, I only managed to record Radio Thailand Yala stations on FM 92.0MHz, FM 94.25MHz and FM 95.0MHz, alongside local stations such as IKIM FM 102.7MHz, Kelantan FM (97.3MHz & 102.9MHz) and THR Raaga FM 97.9MHz, but DXing in the car, instead of using TECSUN PL-380 and PL-310ET.

 

Alongside local radio stations (Fly FM 87.9MHz, Molek FM 105.1MHz, Gegar FM 88.1MHz, Manis FM 90.6MHz etc), I was FM DXing on more Thailand radio stations which transmitted from Narathiwat, Yala, Tak Bai and Sungai Golok. Here are the Thailand radio stations l received in Lojing Highlands. 

 

All Thailand radio stations signal were received at Lojing Mosque in Lojing Highlands, except FM 94.75MHz.

 

1. Khon Tak Bai Radio FM 88.75MHz from Tak Bai, Narathiwat (194km)

Signal is quite clear at Lojing Mosque with STEREO signal on and off, despite FM 88.75MHz operates at low power transmission.

 

2. Thailand Parliament Radio Station FM 89.0MHz Yala (193km from Khao Pok Yo to Masjid Lojing)

Adjacent channel interference with RTM Radio Klasik FM 89.1MHz from Gunung Brinchang is heard.

 

3. Voice of Navy 15 FM 94.75MHz from Narathiwat (207km)

Recorded between Lojing Highlands and Pos Brooke, co-channel interference with RTM Perak FM 94.7MHz from Gunung Brinchang is detected.

 

4. Radio Thailand Narathiwat FM 98.25MHz (206km)

Stable signal in Masjid Lojing, but mono signal.

 

5. Satthani Witthayu 912 FM 99.1MHz Narathiwat (207km)

Adjacent channel interference from RTM Ai FM 99.3MHz Bukit Bakar is detected.

 

6. MCOT Yala FM 102.5MHz (193km from Khao Pok Yo)

 

 

7. Radio Thailand Sungai Golok FM 106.5MHz (169km)   

Interference with Zayan FM 106.4MHz from Gunung Kledang can be detected.

 

Among seven Thailand radio stations which I received in Lojing Highlands on 1st May 2022, none of them are strong as Radio Thailand Yala FM 92.0MHz and FM 95.0MHz which I received on 15th November 2021.

 

I feel impressive over FM DX in Lojing Highlands because I can receive more Thailand radio stations unexpectedly. 

Revisit Lojing Highlands, Kelantan (PART 1): Fly FM Ipoh frequency 87.9MHz (Gunung Kledang) is still available in Lojing Highlands, Gua Musang, Kelantan

During Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2022 festival, I went to Lojing Highlands before going back to Teluk Intan, it took 5 hours and 30 minutes to reach there from my home in Balakong, including traffic congestion. 

I monitored Fly FM 87.9MHz signal propagation in Lojing Highlands, Kelantan. 

 

Back to November 2021, I traveled to Gua Musang and Cameron Highlands. At the same time, I also dropped by Lojing Highlands for a while to perform distant radio signal monitoring (DXing). Unfortunately, I could not get out from the car to do FM DX at Masjid Keputeraan Lojing in 15 November 2021 due to heavy rain, hence I could only film in the car, but I didn't manage to record Fly FM 87.9MHz signal propagation video during that time. When I drove from Lojing to Gua Musang, I tuned to Fly FM 87.9MHz when I was driving on a slope, it was playing Pompeii by Bastille, but I didn't record the video due to traffic safety reason and copyright issue.

In January 2022, a week before Chinese New Year, I made a plan to revisit Lojing Highlands for Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday, the plan included monitoring Fly FM 87.9MHz signal propagation. Now, I materialize my plan finally.

 

I revisited Lojing Highlands, Kelantan on 1st May 2022 (a day before "sudden" and "shocking" Hari Raya Aidilfitri which it was made 1 day earlier, also known as Hurry Raya). When I arrived at Lojing mosque (Masjid Keputeraan Lojing) where is not far from Cameron Highlands border, Fly FM 87.9MHz from Gunung Kledang signal was still clear actually.

 

 

Fly FM 87.9MHz is Ipoh frequency actually, transmitted from Gunung Kledang, it mainly covers Central and South Perak, it also covers part of Cameron Highlands in Pahang state. 

 

However, Fly FM 87.9MHz is still available in part of Lojing Highlands, Kelantan clearly. The signal still shows STEREO indicator when I was tuning in Masjid Keputeraan Lojing, and it was still loud and clear.

 

Signal goes weaker and faded when tuning from Lojing to Pos Brooke on a downhill slope along Cameron Highlands-Gua Musang road. Initially I also planned to check Fly FM 87.9MHz signal in Pos Brooke, but no signal was heard there actually.

 

==Compare with the competitor and other English radio stations==

Meanwhile Hitz FM 92.7MHz and Lite FM 101.5MHz are weaker in Lojing Highlands, then Mix FM 94.3MHz is unavailable in Lojing Highlands due to Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz.

 

The government owned English radio station, Traxx FM can be heard in Lojing Highlands, Kelantan via 98.5MHz from Bukit Bakar (Machang, Kelantan).

 

Compare with its competitor Hitz FM 92.7MHz, in terms of signal propagation strength, Fly FM 87.9MHz is the most powerful Ipoh based English radio station in Lojing Highlands, Kelantan.

 

Among all radio stations owned by Media Prima Audio, Fly FM 87.9MHz is the clearest in Lojing Highlands, following by Hot FM 104.5MHz, 8FM 87.6MHz and Molek FM 105.1MHz.
