RTM Selangor FM 100.9MHz is received in Kelantan? But it is having co-channel interference with Minnal FM 100.9MHz from Bukit Bakar.

 

RTM Selangor FM is a state radio station which serving Selangor state listeners. Its tuning frequencies are FM 100.9MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali as main transmitter and FM 99.8MHz from Hulu Langat as gap filler transmitter for Hulu Langat town.

 

Selangor FM is available in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, South Perak, West Pahang (Raub, Lipis and Bentong only) and part of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, also part of Riau province in Indonesia. However, generally Gunung Ulu Kali radio signal can still transmit to small part of Kelantan (Gua Musang).

 

Back to November 2021, I received Selangor FM 100.9MHz in Kelantan state. The receiving location was not in Gua Musang town, but between Gua Musang and Lojing.

 

In Gua Musang town, I could not receive Selangor FM 100.9MHz because the frequency is Minnal FM from Bukit Bakar there, but I received Selangor FM 100.9MHz in Pos Blau area when I was driving from Gua Musang to Cameron Highlands. In Pos Blau, Selangor FM 100.9MHz was having co-channel interference with Minnal FM from Bukit Bakar. When I drove along there, 100.9MHz was having two different radio stations.

Compare with Pahang FM 107.5MHz which is also transmitted from Gunung Ulu Kali, in Pahang, the signal of Selangor FM 100.9MHz in Pahang is weaker than Pahang FM 107.5MHz because Selangor FM 100.9MHz doesn't beam to east direction as it covers Selangor only by beaming towards west direction from Gunung Ulu Kali with directional antenna. Hence, Merapoh (Kuala Lipis, Pahang) and Pos Blau (Gua Musang, Kelantan) are having co-channel interference between Minnal FM and Selangor FM on 100.9MHz. In Gua Musang town, FM 100.9MHz is completely dominated by Minnal FM from Bukit Bakar.

 

In Pahang, Selangor FM 100.9MHz is only available from Bentong to Padang Tengku, but co-channel interference with Minnal FM 100.9MHz from Bukit Bakar started from Sungai Yu where is not far from Merapoh.
