On 29th November 2021, Media Prima Buletin FM had discontinued its broadcast in Kuala Terengganu and Kota Bharu, meanwhile Hot FM swapped its Kota Bharu frequency with Buletin FM.
Now, Hot FM broadcasts in Kota Bharu on 88.6MHz from Peringat, meanwhile 105.1MHz in Kota Bharu and 93.6MHz in Kuala Terengganu are under test transmission.
The Media Prima Audio's upcoming fifth radio station will be launched in January 2022, and it will be named as "Molek FM".
This radio station will become the competitor of Manis FM and Gegar under East Coast Malay radio station segment.
According to my friend from Kelantan, "Molek" means beautiful and cute in Kelantanese Malay dialect.
Molek FM will become Media Prima Audio's 5th radio station, join with Fly FM, Buletin FM, Hot FM and 8FM under the company. It is East Coast Malay radio station which mainly targeting Kelantan and Terengganu (Pahang is unknown as Molek FM has no Kuantan frequency).
Molek FM will be broadcasting in Kuala Terengganu on 93.6MHz, and Kota Bharu on 105.1MHz by 2022, meanwhile Kuantan frequency is currently unknown.
About the studio, Molek FM is expected to be located at NSTP (New Straits Times Press) Kota Bharu branch where was also former Hot FM Kelate studio, instead of Media Prima's headquarter at Sri Pentas in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Its Instagram and Facebook pages are launched today.
In order to cover the East Coast region, Dungun frequencies may be needed, in addition to Kuantan, if this radio station wants to cover the whole East Coast region. This is in case if they want to continue using Bukit Besar. Media Prima has, on analogue TV era, used to have a transmitter for TV9 in Bukit Bauk. Main rivals Gegar and Manis FM currently based their transmitter in Bukit Jerung which covers a much larger area than Bukit Besar which coverage is limited in Kuala Terengganu and surrounding areas. It is possible also for this station to be added on MYTV DTT platform too.
