Skudai)

Senai

2. 古來 Kulai

Kota Tinggi

Ulu Tiram

Skudai

Eight FM radio reception in Kulai, Skudai, Ulu Tiram, Senai and Kota Tinggi, Johor on 105.3MHz and 88.1MHz.

Back to 29th September 2024, I checked the radio reception of Eight FM in Pekan Nanas and Pontian on 88.1MHz and 105.3MHz, but in these two towns, Eight FM is still tuned on 88.1MHz from Gunung Ledang, meanwhile FM 105.3MHz is still a weak radio signal of RTM Johor FM Gunung Ledang transmitter without interference from Eight FM Johor Bahru frequency which is transmitted from Taman Sentosa, not Gunung Pulai.

Today, I check its radio signal in 5 locations of South Johor such as Senai, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, Ulu Tiram and Skudai to compare between 88.1MHz and 105.3MHz.

==Kulai==

In Kulai, the listeners need to tune Eight FM on 88.1MHz from Gunung Ledang because its low power Johor Bahru frequency 105.3MHz has co-channel interference with RTM Johor FM Gunung Ledang transmitter.

Video is recorded in Kulai town.

==Senai==

Same condition as Kulai, Eight FM 105.3MHz Taman Sentosa JB transmitter signal is moderately clear, but it doesn't have co-channel interference with Johor FM from Gunung Ledang.

88.1MHz from Gunung Ledang is moderately clear and weak in Senai.

By comparing between 105.3 and 88.1, Eight FM 105.3MHz is clearer than 88.1MHz in Senai.

==Kota Tinggi==

* FM 105.3MHz is RTM Johor FM signal from Gunung Ledang tuned in Kota Tinggi, but Eight FM 88.1MHz Gunung Ledang signal is very weak there.

* Not every Kota Tinggi areas can receive Eight FM on 88.1MHz from Gunung Ledang.

==Ulu Tiram and Skudai==

During my departure from Kota Tinggi to Kuala Lumpur, I pass by Ulu Tiram and Skudai, Eight FM 105.3MHz is moderately clear in both Ulu Tiram and Skudai, meanwhile 88.1MHz is moderately weak in Skudai, but no signal in Ulu Tiram.

No co-channel interference from Johor FM Gunung Ledang transmitter is detected in Skudai and Ulu Tiram when I tune Eight FM 105.3MHz.

==Radio reception report of Eight FM 88.1MHz and 105.3MHz in South Johor==

1. Senai

* 105.3MHz: Moderately clear

* 88.1MHz: Moderately weak

2. Kulai

* 105.3MHz: Weak and has co-channel interference with Johor FM

* 88.1MHz: Moderately weak

3. Kota Tinggi

* 105.3MHz: Signal is mostly Johor FM from Gunung Ledang, but very weak

* 88.1MHz: Very weak

4. Ulu Tiram

* 105.3MHz: Moderately clear with little statics

* 88.1MHz: No signal

5. Skudai

* 105.3MHz: Moderately clear

* 88.1MHz: Moderately clear with little statics

==Overall best tuning frequency of Eight FM in South Johor (23rd February 2025)==

1. Senai: 105.3MHz

2. Skudai: 105.3MHz

3. Kulai: 88.1MHz

4. Ulu Tiram: 105.3MHz

5. Kota Tinggi: 88.1MHz

Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz tuned in Lundu, Sarawak, Malaysia

Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Sambas PRO-1 is now on FM 97.4MHz, formerly it was on FM 97.7MHz. Few months ago, I asked my Sarawak friends who are based in Kuching regarding this radio station's availability in Kuching, Sarawak, I was told that RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz had no signal in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

In Kuching and Serian, there is only an available Indonesia radio station, known as RRI Entikong PRO-1 FM 100.7MHz.

Today, I have watched a radio reception video of tuning RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz in Lundu, Sarawak by Sarawakian_12 on YouTube.

RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz is the second Indonesia radio station tuned in Lundu, Sarawak after RRI Entikong PRO-1 FM 100.7MHz. In Lundu, the signal of RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz is not so clear actually.

While RRI Entikong PRO-1 FM 100.7MHz is the current furthest radio station tuned in Lundu, RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz becomes the second furthest radio station there.

As 21st February 2025, Lundu is the first and only Sarawak location to receive RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz.

==Radio reception report of RRI Sambas PRO-1 in Lundu, Sarawak==

* Frequency: FM 97.4MHz

* Power: 5kW

* Transmitter site: Sambas, West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia

* Receiving site: Lundu, Sarawak, Malaysia

* Distance: 70km

RTB radio stations from Brunei tuned in Tamparuli, Sabah, Malaysia by Azlan Jumat

In Sabah, normally the Brunei radio stations can be only tuned clearly in Sindumin, Sipitang, Menumbok and Beaufort.

Recently the Sabah radio DXer, Azlan Jumat tuned Brunei FM radio stations in Tamparuli, Sabah, Malaysia. He received 3 RTB (Radio Televisyen Brunei) radio stations.

1. RTB Nasional FM 92.3MHz from Bukit Subok

2. RTB Nur Islam FM 93.3MHz Bukit Subok & 94.9MHz Andulau

3. RTB Harmoni FM 94.1MHz Bukit Subok & 97.7MHz Andulau

The radio reception of Brunei radio stations in Tamparuli, Sabah were moderately clear. Although Andulau transmitted Brunei radio stations mainly covers Seria, Kuala Belait and Miri, but surprisingly they can be tuned in Sabah.

According to Azlan Jumat, the elevation of the receiving site to tune Brunei radio stations in Tamparuli, Sabah is 853 meter above sea level.

Tuning distance from Bukit Subok to Tamparuli is 202km, meanwhile it is 258km distance to receive signal from Andulau in Tamparuli.

Other than these radio stations, I may think RTB Pilihan FM (95.9MHz & 96.9MHz), Pelangi FM (91.4MHz & 91.0MHz) and Al-Quran Radio (89.1MHz & 99.7MHz) can be received in Tamparuli, Sabah, but several radio stations may have interference with local radio stations.

Bukit Djin transmitted Kuching radio stations tuned in Lundu, Sarawak by Sarawakians_12

In Lundu, Sarawak, the Kuching radio stations are tuned loudly and clearly, but only for those are transmitted from Gunung Serapi such as RTM radio stations, Hot FM 94.3MHz and Cats FM 99.3MHz.

Bukit Djin or Bukit Antu transmitted Kuching radio stations signal are varied if we tune them in Lundu, Sarawak.

Here are the random radio reception videos of tuning 3 Bukit Djin transmitted radio stations in Lundu, Sarawak, uploaded by a YouTube.

1. Hitz FM 95.3MHz

2. MY FM 96.9MHz

3. IKIM FM 93.7MHz

4. Era FM 96.1MHz

Tuning distance between Bukit Djin and Lundu is about 52km.

Their signal are weak in Lundu as Bukit Djin transmitter site height is lower.

Lundu is likely the last coverage of Bukit Djin transmitted Kuching radio stations, meanwhile no signal can be tuned in Sematan, Sarawak.

Other than these radio stations, Sarawakian_12 also publishes a brief radio reception post of tuning Bukit Djin transmitted Kuching radio stations on YouTube community tab.

However, I will make video version of tuning Bukit Djin radio stations in Lundu and Bau, Sarawak in August 2025, a full result will be published in September 2025.

BONUS: Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Entikong PRO-1 FM 100.7MHz tuned in Lundu, Sarawak, Malaysia (104km), the furthest radio station tuned in Lundu as February 2025.

Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) will temporarily cease PRO-4 radio stations nationwide due to budget rationalization.

Recently I saw many posts from my Indonesian friends and Indonesia radio amateur community group regarding broadcast termination of Radio Republik Indonesia via AM and FM frequencies transmission.

Effective 10th February 2025, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) will temporarily cease PRO-4 radio stations broadcast on AM and FM frequencies nationwide, so PRO-4 will become online only radio stations. This is because of budget concern, so Radio Republik Indonesia is going to cut cost of its radio stations operation.

What I receive the news today is Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Semarang PRO-4 AM 801kHz and FM 88.2MHz will be temporarily shut down tomorrow from several community groups via Facebook.

Hence, the listeners have to access RRI PRO-4 via online.

PRO-1, PRO-2 and PRO-3 are not affected in this exercise, but they will reduce their transmission power, according to my friend from Indonesia.

12 tengah malam sehingga 6 pagi

* Perlis FM
* Kedah FM
* Mutiara FM
* Perak FM
* Selangor FM
* Pahang FM
* Kelantan FM
* Terengganu FM
* Negeri FM
* Melaka FM
* Johor FM

7 malam sehingga 6 pagi
* Labuan FM

RTM state radio stations can relay Muzik FM from 12am to 6am, instead of Nasional FM in order to reduce duplication

Currently RTM state radio stations (except KL FM, Perlis FM, Sabah FM and Sarawak FM) relay Nasional FM from 12 am to 6am, meanwhile Perlis FM relays Radio Klasik from 12am to 6am, then Sarawak FM and KL FM air 24 hours, as well as Sabah FM only relays Nasional FM for 2 hours.

As Nasional FM is available nationwide via frequency transmission, this causes a broadcast duplication because RTM state radio stations and Nasional FM broadcast simultaneously from 12am to 6am. When you tune to RTM state radio stations from 12am to 6am, it is simulcast of Nasional FM.

In my opinion, to reduce duplication, RTM state/local radio stations can relay Muzik FM during non-broadcast hours, instead of Nasional FM.

Muzik FM is relaunched as online only radio station currently, actually it can become a "partial FM radio station" by being relayed on state radio stations.

For Labuan FM and RTM Sabah's division radio stations, they can relay Muzik FM during their non-broadcasting hours from 7pm to 6am.

In Sarawak, RTM Red FM and Wai FM Bidayuh simulcast Sarawak FM during non-broadcasting hours from 12am to 6am, while Sarawak FM airs 24 hours. Wai FM Bidayuh is only available in Kuching and Serian, then Red FM is available in entire Sarawak. So, Red FM is more suitable than Wai FM Bidayuh to relay Muzik FM as it can be tuned in entire Sarawak region.

If RTM Red FM relays Muzik FM from 12am to 6am, Red FM will become tri-lingual radio station which consists Chinese, English and Malay.

My suggestion to relay Muzik FM on RTM state/local radio stations during non-broadcasting hours

* 12am to 6am

- Perlis FM, Kedah FM, Mutiara FM, Perak FM, Selangor FM, Kelantan FM, Terengganu FM, Pahang FM, Negeri FM, Melaka FM, Johor FM and Red FM Sarawak.

* 7pm to 6am

- Labuan FM, Keningau FM, Tawau FM, Sandakan FM

I will send this proposal to Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), hopefully this proposal works.

Kuching radio stations (TX_Gunung Serapi) tuned in Saratok, Sarawak by Sarawakian_12 (FM RADIO TV)

In Saratok, Sarawak, alongside Bukit Temudok, Off Spaoh and Bukit Kayu Malam transmitted radio stations, there are few Kuching radio stations available in that town, but those Kuching radio stations are transmitted from Gunung Serapi.

Total of 10 Kuching radio stations are tuned in Saratok, Sarawak by a YouTube user, named FM RADIO TV (@Sarawakian_12).

* 88.1MHz: RTM Nasional FM

* 88.9MHz: RTM Sarawak FM

* 89.9MHz: RTM Traxx FM

* 90.7MHz: RTM Ai FM

* 91.9MHz: RTM Red FM

* 92.9MHz: RTM Radio Klasik

* 94.3MHz: Hot FM

* 99.3MHz: Cats FM

* 101.3MHz: RTM Wai FM Iban

* 106.1MHz: RTM Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan

Receiving distance between Gunung Serapi and Saratok is 128km.

Among 10 radio stations, Cats FM 99.3MHz is the clearest Kuching radio station tuned in Saratok, following by Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan FM 106.1MHz, meanwhile the weakest Kuching radio station tuned in Saratok is Hot FM 94.3MHz.

Hot FM 94.3MHz from Gunung Serapi may have interference with RTM Sarawak FM 94.4MHz Off Spaoh transmitter in Saratok, Sarawak.

In Saratok, RTM radio stations (except Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan) can be tuned via Bukit Kayu Malam, Bukit Temudok or Off Spaoh transmitter clearly. For Wai FM Iban, it can be tuned in Saratok via Sibu FM 94.6MHz and Sri Aman FM 89.5MHz/99.5MHz (Iban broadcast hours: 0000-0900 hours, 1200-0000 hours).

==RTM Bukit Kayu Malam==

* 87.9MHz: Radio Klasik

* 90.3MHz: Nasional FM

* 91.5MHz: Sarawak FM

* 92.3MHz: Traxx FM

* 93.6MHz: Ai FM

* 89.2MHz: Red FM

* 94.6MHz: Sibu FM/Wai FM Iban

==RTM Bukit Temudok==

* 107.3MHz: Radio Klasik

* 98.9MHz: Nasional FM

* 100.3MHz: Sarawak FM

* 103.8MHz: Traxx FM

* 105.3MHz: Ai FM

* 106.3MHz: Red FM

* 89.5MHz: Sri Aman FM/Wai FM Iban

RTM Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan 106.1MHz (Kuching - Gunung Serapi) is clearer than 101.7MHz (Serian - Bukit Ampungan) in Saratok, Sarawak

Although RTM Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan is only available in Kuching and Serian on the frequencies 106.1MHz and 101.7MHz respectively, but this radio station can be tuned in the divisions of Sri Aman and Betong on the same frequencies.

Recently, there is a YouTube user, named FM RADIO TV (@Sarawakian_12) publishing FM radio DXing video content by recording RTM Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan radio signal in Saratok, Sarawak on 106.1MHz and 101.7MHz.

Sarawakian_12 aka FM Radio TV recorded the radio signal of RTM Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan in Saratok by using built-in smartphone radio receiver.

Based on the two radio reception videos of Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan in Saratok, Sarawak, 106.1MHz from Gunung Serapi is clearer than 101.7MHz from Bukit Ampungan.

Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan 101.7MHz radio signal from Bukit Ampungan is very weak in Saratok, Sarawak, so it has no signal in Roban.

==Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan radio reception in Saratok, Sarawak==

* 106.1MHz Gunung Serapi/Kuching (128km): Clear

* 101.7MHz Bukit Ampungan/Serian (102km): Weak

In Roban, Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan can be only tuned via FM 106.1MHz from Gunung Serapi, but the signal is weak, meanwhile it cannot be tuned there via 101.7MHz from Bukit Ampungan.

In conclusion, Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan is tuned on 106.1MHz (Gunung Serapi) in Roban, Saratok, Kabong and Pusa where are located in northern Betong Division.

However, this is not enough yet because I will come to Simanggang, Betong, Spaoh, Lingga, Debak, Saratok, Pusa and Roban to make the comprehensive videos of tuning Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan on 106.1MHz/101.7MHz in May 2025, alongside Wai FM Iban on 101.3MHz/106.9MHz.

1. Kool 101 MYTV DVB-T2 UHF 666MHz (MUX A/CH45) di Teluk Intan, Perak (62km dari Gunung Kledang)

2. Kool 101 MYTV DVB-T2 UHF 666MHz (MUX A/CH45) di Bandaraya Ipoh, Perak (7.7km dari Gunung Kledang)

No coverage in Ipoh and Gopeng? RTM Asyik FM can be tuned via MYTV CH706 in Ipoh, Perak via DTT transmission on UHF 650MHz (CH43) from Gunung Kledang

RTM Asyik FM is not available in Ipoh and Gopeng as it doesn't have the transmitter in Gunung Kledang, meanwhile 105.1MHz from Gunung Brinchang cannot be tuned there, currently 105.1MHz is having transmission problem.

3 years ago, I proposed Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) to launch the transmitter for Asyik FM in Gunung Kledang to cover Ipoh and Kinta Valley, but on the frequency FM 107.4MHz at low power transmitter power to target Ipoh and Orang Asli areas in Central Perak only without covering Hilir Perak, Manjung, Kampar, Bidor and Tapah.

==My proposal of Asyik FM Ipoh frequency (2022)==

* Frequency: FM 107.4MHz

* Power: 0.25kW

==RF analysis==

107.1MHz: RTM Nasional FM Bukit Larut

107.4MHz: RTM Asyik FM Gunung Kledang

(300kHz, OK)

107.4MHz: RTM Asyik FM Gunung Kledang

107.6MHz: GOXUAN Bukit Penara

(200kHz, OK)

107.4MHz: RTM Asyik FM Gunung Kledang

107.5MHz: Pahang FM Gunung Ulu Kali

(100kHz, neither OK nor NOT OK)

Although I had pushed this parameter to RTM several times for Asyik FM Gunung Kledang transmission to cover Ipoh, Simpang Pulai and Gopeng, from 2022 to 2023, but I don't think RTM will proceed such proposal due to interference against Pahang FM 107.5MHz coverage.

In Pahang, Cameron Highlands is the only area to receive Gunung Kledang radio signal moderately and weakly, but technically Gunung Kledang radio propagation can overspill to Pahang territory such as Kampung Sega and some Kuala Lipis areas. Due to frequency separation between Asyik FM 107.4MHz Gunung Kledang and Pahang FM 107.5MHz Gunung Ulu Kali is 100kHz, then proposed Asyik FM 107.4MHz beams to east from Gunung Kledang, so Pahang FM 107.5MHz could likely face interference from Asyik FM 107.4MHz in Kampung Sega and part of Kuala Lipis areas.

Inversely, Asyik FM 107.4MHz may have interference from Pahang FM 107.5MHz in Tanjung Tualang, Batu Gajah and Kampung Gajah because Pahang FM 107.5MHz is moderately clear in Tanjung Tualang and part of Batu Gajah area.

Alternatively, alongside online streaming and Astro satellite TV on CH875, RTM Asyik FM can be tuned in Ipoh and Kinta Valley via MYTV Channel 706. Listeners in Ipoh and Kinta Valley can access Asyik FM on MYTV by receiving DVB-T2 signal from Gunung Kledang with UHF antenna.

Asyik FM's MYTV multiplex frequency in Ipoh and Kinta Valley is UHF 650MHz (Channel 43), transmitted from Gunung Kledang.

Asyik FM is using same MYTV digital terrestrial television multiplex frequency in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang (U4 & Seberang Jaya), Kedah, Perlis, Langkawi and Perak (Pangkor, Ipoh, Taiping).

BONUS FOOTAGE: RTM Asyik FM via MYTV DVB-T2 UHF 650MHz from Gunung Kledang (MUX B/CH43) received in Teluk Intan, Perak by using Greentek ANT-120 basic indoor antenna.

FM DX: Bagan Datuk, Perak (27th January 2025 edition)

After conducting FM DX in Sabak Bernam, Sungai Besar and Sekinchan, Selangor, during my departure from these locations to Teluk Intan, I make a last minute decision to visit Hutan Melintang and Bagan Datuk, Perak.

Different from 2022, my aim to visit Bagan Datuk and Hutan Melintang is to record few more leftover DX radio stations, mainly Pahang FM (107.5/100.3), Selangor FM 100.9 and Asyik FM 102.5MHz which are regional radio stations.

In 2022, I caught many Indonesia FM radio stations signal in Bagan Datuk, Perak.

==Bagan Datuk==

1. Pahang FM 100.3MHz Gunung Brinchang transmitter has better signal strength reading than 107.5MHz Gunung Ulu Kali transmitter in Bagan Datuk, but in terms of current audio quality, 107.5MHz is better.

2. Compare to Teluk Intan, RTM Asyik FM 102.5MHz Gunung Ulu Kali in Bagan Datuk is clearer, but it has little adjacent channel interference with Raaga FM 102.4MHz Gunung Jerai transmitter.

3. BFM 89.9, Best FM 104.1MHz, Minnal FM 96.3MHz and Selangor FM 100.9MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali are very clear in Bagan Datuk.

4. Minnal FM 98.9MHz Gunung Kledang transmitter has interference with 988 FM 98.8MHz Gunung Ulu Kali in Bagan Datuk, but Minnal FM is tuned clearly via 96.3MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali in Bagan Datuk.

5. I randomly tuned Hot FM 90.5MHz Bukit Larut signal in Bagan Datuk. It is weaker than what I tune in Teluk Intan, but Hot FM is tuned clearly on 104.5MHz from Gunung Kledang there.

6. The signal of Best FM 104.1MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali is clear in Bagan Datuk, Perak without co-channel interference from Perak FM 104.1MHz Bukit Larut transmitter.

==Hutan Melintang==

1. Asyik FM 102.5MHz Gunung Ulu Kali can be received moderately in Hutan Melintang.

2. For Pahang FM 100.3/107.5 in Hutan Melintang, it has same radio reception as Bagan Datuk. To me, 107.5 is better than 100.3 overall.

Bagan Datuk is my last location to perform FM radio DXing in Perak state. I'm signing off at noon by departing back to Teluk Intan after completing my radio DXing mission in Sabak Bernam, Sungai Besar, Sekinchan, Hutan Melintang and Bagan Datuk.

FM DX: Sabak Bernam, Sungai Besar & Sekinchan, Selangor (27th January 2025 edition)

4 years and 6 months ago, I went to Sabak Bernam, Sungai Besar, Sekinchan, Tanjong Karang and Kuala Selangor to conduct radio signal monitoring (aka FM DX), however during that time I was mainly focusing to DX the radio signal of Perak FM 95.6MHz Gunung Kledang, CityPlus FM 106.0MHz Gunung Telapak Buruk and Raaga FM 102.1MHz Bukit Larut, also some random DXing of Bukit Larut and Gunung Kledang radio stations in Sekinchan and Sabak Bernam.

After a long hiatus, I'm coming to Sabak Bernam, Sungai Besar and Sekinchan again to conduct radio DXing today by departing from Teluk Intan, but I come here to record leftover DX radio stations such as Bernama Radio FM 93.9MHz (Kuala Lumpur Tower), RTM KL FM 97.2MHz (Kuala Lumpur Tower), Kool 101 FM 101.3MHz (Bukit Sungai Besi), and Rakita FM 107.9MHz (Bukit Sungai Besi) there. In addition, I also include RTM Negeri FM 92.6MHz (Gunung Telapak Buruk), however I can only DX the radio signal on 92.6MHz in Sungai Besar and Sekinchan because Sabak Bernam cannot receive Negeri FM 92.6MHz due to Hitz FM 92.7MHz Gunung Kledang transmitter.

DX stations that I tune today:

1. Bernama Radio FM 93.9MHz

2. KL FM 97.2MHz

3. Kool 101 FM 101.3MHz

4. Rakita FM 107.9MHz

5. Negeri FM 92.6MHz (except Sabak Bernam)

==Sabak Bernam==

==Sungai Besar==

==Sekinchan==

Among 4 Kuala Lumpur transmitted radio stations, Bernama Radio FM 93.9MHz is the strongest radio station in Sabak Bernam and Sungai Besar, meanwhile Rakita FM 107.9MHz is the clearest radio station in Sekinchan.

Kool 101 FM 101.3MHz is the weakest radio station in Sungai Besar and Sabak Bernam, but it is only clear in Sekinchan. It would be very perfect if Kool 101 FM 101.3MHz can use Gunung Ulu Kali transmitter, so listeners in Sabak Bernam, Sungai Besar and Sekinchan can tune to this radio station louder and clearer than the current Bukit Sungai Besi transmitter.

RTM KL FM 97.2MHz is only clear in Sekinchan, but it has adjacent channel interference with Perak FM 97.3MHz Changkat Rembian transmitter in Sungai Besar and Sabak Bernam.

Negeri FM 92.6MHz is receivable weakly in Sekinchan, but it has interference with Hitz FM 92.7MHz from Gunung Kledang in Sungai Besar. It cannot be tuned in Sabak Bernam anymore because Hitz FM 92.7MHz dominates more signal there.

MYTV digital terrestrial television DVB-T2 reception in Teluk Intan, Perak, Malaysia

Today on 26th January 2025, I go to Teluk Intan, Perak for Chinese New Year celebration. While I plan to record RTM Asyik FM radio aircheck via MYTV digital terrestrial television platform in Ipoh by end of January 2025, I bring my Leadstar D7 portable television together.

In 2024, I brought my portable television unit to Teluk Intan, but I was not able to catch any digital terrestrial TV signal there, regardless indoor or outdoor as I couldn't find a proper position to put my indoor antenna.

In Teluk Intan, MYTV DVB-T2 digital terrestrial television is covered by Gunung Kledang transmitter. MYTV Gunung Kledang transmitters are using same frequencies as Gunung Ulu Kali, Bukit Sungai Besi, Bukit Larut and Kuala Lumpur Tower by following multiplex below:

* MUX A: UHF 666MHz (CH 45)

* MUX B: UHF 650MHz (CH43)

Despite Teluk Intan is under Gunung Kledang coverage, but MYTV digital terrestrial television reception is not stable in Teluk Intan if I use indoor antenna. This is because the distance between Gunung Kledang and Teluk Intan is about 60-65km, so the indoor portable antenna cannot receive a TV signal beyond 20km properly.

I manage to catch MYTV digital terrestrial television signal successfully in Teluk Intan, Perak with my Greentek ANT-120 wall mount basic indoor antenna. The signal is only fully stable if I position the antenna correctly and slowly.

Between MUX A and B, in Teluk Intan, MYTV MUX B channels are always stronger and more stable than MUX A. In terms of the coverage, MYTV MUX B dominates more than MUX A, therefore I can access MYTV channels better on MUX B.

It is highly recommended to install outdoor antenna (minimum requirement: 7E antenna) to receive MYTV digital terrestrial television channels under stable reception in Teluk Intan, Perak.

[FM DX] Kuching, Serian and Sarikei radio stations tuned in Simunjan, Sarawak

Simunjan is a small town in Samarahan Division where it is located between Serian and Sebuyau, its postcode is 94800. It takes 90 minutes to travel from Kuching to Simunjan via PAN Borneo Highway with 90km distance, meanwhile its distance from Serian is 29km.

In Simunjan, RTM radio stations are covered by Gunung Serapi or Gunung Ampungan transmitters by following below with Gunung Serapi/Gunung Ampungan frequency format:

1. Radio Klasik FM 92.9MHz/98.0MHz

2. Nasional FM 88.1MHz/94.0MHz

3. Sarawak FM 88.9MHz/94.8MHz

4. Traxx FM 89.9MHz/95.6MHz

5. Ai FM 90.7MHz/96.4MHz

6. Red FM 91.9MHz/97.2MHz

7. Wai FM Iban 101.3MHz/106.9MHz

8. Wai FM Bidayuh + Radio Kayan 106.1MHz/101.7MHz

For commercial radio stations, only selected channels from Kuching are available in Simunjan moderately such as:

1. Kupi-Kupi FM 92.5MHz Bukit Djin

2. Bernama Radio FM 100.9MHz Bukit Antu

3. Eight FM 98.3MHz Bukit Djin

4. Tea FM 102.7MHz Bukit Djin

5. Kool 101 FM 104.3MHz Bukit Djin

6. Cats FM 99.3MHz Gunung Serapi

7. Hot FM 94.3MHz Gunung Serapi

8. IKIM FM 93.7MHz Bukit Djin

Cats FM is still loud and clear in Simunjan via FM 99.3MHz from Gunung Serapi.

According to Alexander Nyareng who is my friend from Kuching, Astro radio stations such as Era FM 96.1MHz, Sinar FM 102.1MHz, Mix FM 97.7MHz, MY FM 96.9MHz, Melody FM 103.7MHz, Lite FM 100.1MHz have no signal in Simunjan, meanwhile Hitz FM 95.3MHz could be tuned weakly there, based on the video.

Despite Astro, Media Prima, IKIM FM, Kupi-Kupi FM, Bernama and Tea FM are using same transmitter sites (Bukit Djin/Antu) within the vicinity of Westwood in Kuching, but Astro radio stations cannot be tuned in Serian, Simunjan and Sebuyau by not having any signal because Astro Radio may operate lower power transmitters for its radio stations in Kuching. Sources claimed that Sinar FM 102.1MHz is running 0.25kW transmitter power in Kuching, so I think rest of Astro radio stations are using 0.25kW transmitter power too while my friend told me that they have no signal in Simunjan.

Alongside Kuching and Serian radio stations, Simunjan can receive radio signal from Sarikei's Bukit Kayu Malam transmitter, Traxx FM 92.3MHz, Sibu FM/Wai FM Iban 94.6MHz and Cats FM 96.7MHz are the DX radio stations in Simunjan and Sebuyau.

So, I conclude that Simunjan can receive about 16 radio stations (clear signal) from Gunung Serapi, Gunung Ampungan and Bukit Djin/Antu (except Astro Radio).
