RTM menunjukkan peta simulasi Nasional FM 93.1MHz Gunung Brinchang. Kuasa pemancarnya hanya 100W, 93.1MHz tidak dapat meliputi Lojing. Seterusnya, saya membuat peta simulasi Kelantan FM 105.9MHz Gunung Brinchang pada kuasa pemancar 1kW dan susunan antenna Yagi 3 bay (3 bay array Yagi antenna).

Kelantan FM 105.9MHz Gunung Brinchang

* Kuasa: 1kW

* Konfigurasi antenna: 3 bay array Yagi (SIRA-FM 07)

* Antenna gain: 13.5dBd

- Frekuensi: FM 105.9MHz

- Kuasa: 1kW

- Tempat pemancar: Ulu Telom, Cameron Highlands, Pahang (berhampiri dengan sempadan Negeri Kelantan)

- Ketinggian aras laut: 1425m

- Ketinggian antenna: 40m

- Jenis antenna: 3 bay array dipole antenna

- Antenna gain: 6.0dBd

- Koordinat GPS: 4°35'40.0"N 101°25'58.4"E

==RF analisa==

105.7MHz: Lite FM Gunung Ulu Kali

105.9MHz: Kelantan FM Ulu Telom

<200kHz, OK>

105.9MHz: Kelantan FM Ulu Telom

106.1MHz: Ai FM Bukit Larut

<200kHz, OK>

Kelantan FM transmitter for Lojing: Telcommunication tower nearby Kelantan-Pahang border is more strategic than Gunung Brinchang

Previously I had made an analysis if Kelantan FM launches a transmitter in Gunung Brinchang to cover Lojing area, Kelantan, however I was informed by RTM engineer that Gunung Brinchang could not cover Lojing during an inquiry, even I tested the paramater with Nautel RF Toolkit, I also got the same result. Hence, I acknowledged it.

By using Google map, I checked what's surrounding between Kelantan-Pahang border in Cameron Highlands. Nearby Lojing border, there is a telecommunication tower. Then, I trace its GPS coordinate and check its height elevation above sea level. After that, I put them into paramater to generate the coverage map.

This is a telecommunication tower located nearby Kelantan border in Cameron Highlands, Pahang. As the tower is located at the highland, its height above sea level is 1425m, meanwhile the tower height is estimated 50m.

GPS coordinates is 4°35'40.0"N 101°25'58.4"E.

Next, I generate the coverage map of this tower by following parameter below:

- Frequency: FM 105.9MHz

- Power: 1kW

- Transmitter site: Ulu Telom, Cameron Highlands, Pahang (nearby Kelantan border)

- Height above sea level: 1425m

- Antenna height: 40m

- Antenna configuration: 3 bay array dipole antenna

- Antenna gain: 6.0dBd

- GPS: 4°35'40.0"N 101°25'58.4"E

According to the coverage map of Kelantan FM 105.9MHz from Ulu Telom tower in Cameron Highlands, Lojing is covered by the transmission tower actually. It is more ideal and strategic site than Gunung Brinchang to cover Lojing.

In terms of frequency, FM 105.9MHz is the best frequency nomination as it has 200kHz frequency separation from Gunung Ulu Kali (105.7MHz) and Bukit Larut (106.1MHz), and far from Gunung Kledang. So, the transmission of Kelantan FM from the tower nearby Lojing border does not affect any radio stations in Cameron Highlands.

Basically 98.1MHz and 99.6MHz look suitable too, but I don't nominate them in this coverage analysis because to avoid interference to Raaga FM 97.9MHz and 988 FM 99.8MHz Gunung Kledang coverage in Cameron Highlands because there are many of their listeners tuning Raaga 97.9 and 988 FM 99.8MHz in Cameron Highlands.

With FM 105.9MHz Ulu Telom tower to cover Lojing, the coverage blind spot of Kelantan FM in Lojing will be greatly reduced. People who travel from Lojing to Gua Musang town can listen to this radio station on 105.9MHz, 92.0MHz and 97.3MHz vice-versa.

About the tower, I'm not sure what is the exact location name, but tentatively I call the tower as "Ulu Telom" instead.

Ulu Telom tower is more strategic than Gunung Brinchang when Kelantan FM wants to cover Lojing. Although some people claimed that Lojing can receive FM 97.3MHz from Bukit Bakar clearly, but I believe not all areas will receive the signal.

(Transmission site tower investigation update) Proposed site for Kelantan FM Lojing transmitter cannot be used because the tower is under DiGi.

1. The tower is owned by DiGi actually.

2. DiGi does not provide any broadcast transmission infrastructure. The DiGi tower nearby Lojing area in Cameron Highlands operates only mobile cellular transmission services (2G, 3G and 4G).

3. By looking the tower site, the cabinet container inside has very small space, it is not sufficient to install broadcast transmitter system in the cabinet container.

In conclusion, with the investigation update, although the proposed tower site is more strategic and ideal than Gunung Brinchang to cover Lojing for Kelantan FM, but it is impossible that RTM will add gap filler transmitter there because the tower is belonged to DiGi and only running mobile cellular transmission service.

FM 97.3MHz Bukit Bakar is the only available frequency in Lojing-Gua Musang road.

RTM Nasional FM 92.0MHz and Selangor FM 99.8MHz from Batu 18 Hulu Langat transmission return on-air now after 2 years hiatus.

BY PHILIP YONG

philipyong0110@gmail.com

While I'm listening to the radio when I have casual walking at my housing area today, I detect Nasional FM 92.0MHz and Selangor FM 99.8MHz on my phone radio suddenly today. They're transmitted from Batu 18 Hulu Langat where it is a gap filler transmitter site to cover blind spot areas of FM 100.9MHz Gunung Ulu Kali coverage in Hulu Langat.

After 2 years and 2 months hiatus, RTM Nasional FM 92.0MHz and Selangor FM 99.8MHz transmission return on-air recently.

Back then, I detected Nasional FM 92.0MHz and Selangor FM firstly in October 2017 and January 2018, then both radio stations went off air in May 2019 suddenly.

Here are the latest videos of RTM Nasional FM 92.0MHz and Selangor FM 99.8MHz signal monitoring (FM DX) in Balakong:

Transmitter site is located in Batu 18, Hulu Langat, meanwhile transmitter power for each radio station is 500W.

Receiving distance is 22km.

Receiving signal of Nasional FM 92.0MHz is still same as previous reception that I listened in 2017 and 2018, same audio output level.

Meanwhile Selangor FM 99.8MHz reception is different from what I listened and received in 2018 because FM 99.8MHz is having heavy adjacent channel interference from Raaga FM 99.7MHz Gunung Ledang transmitter, however co-channel interference (CCI) signal from 988 FM 99.8MHz Gunung Kledang transmitter (Ipoh, Perak) is spotted when I'm recording Selangor FM 99.8MHz signal footage.

By watching and listening to my latest Selangor FM 99.8MHz signal monitoring video, you can hear Chinese speaking voice on the frequency while Selangor FM is airing Tazkirah (Muslim's talk program) and Azan Maghrib (Muslim's evening prayer). Stereo reception with CCI signal from 988 FM 99.8MHz Gunung Kledang.

In May 2019, RTM was forced to close down Nasional FM 92.0MHz and Selangor FM 99.8MHz transmission due to transmitter site problem. Now the site problem is solved, and they're back on air. Hence, their listeners can tune to clearer frequency in Hulu Langat, Selangor where Gunung Ulu Kali reception is poor certainly in that area.

(RF and coverage analysis) FM 103.0MHz Yala, Thailand from Khao Bu Yo.

After making basic RF analysis, FM 103.0MHz is suitable in Rueso and Yi-ngo for low power community radio broadcast within Narathiwat province, Thailand.

Now I analyze FM 103.0MHz transmission for Yala province (except Betong), Thailand. Tested parameter is following below:

* Frequency: FM 103.0MHz

* Power: 0.5kW

* Transmitter site: Khao Buyo, Tambon Bannang Sareng, Mueang Yala district, Yala Province, Thailand.

FM 100.0MHz (Thailand army radio station) is the only radio broadcaster to operate its transmitter in Khao Buyo tower. In addition, Thailand digital terrestrial television service runs a repeater transmission at same tower with 1kW ERP.

==RF analysis==

103.0MHz: Khao Buyo, Yala (500W)

103.0MHz: Thepha, Songkhla

<0kHz, OK>

102.75MHz: FM One Pattani

103.0MHz: Khao Buyo, Yala (500W)

<250kHz, OK>

102.9MHz: RTM Kelantan FM Wakaf Che Yeh

103.0MHz: Khao Buyo, Yala (500W)

<100kHz, OK>

FM 103.0MHz radio transmission from Khao Buyo does not give any interference impact to Malaysia radio station as the hill is located in Yala town, meanwhile Khao Pok Yo overspill signal to Malaysia (Kedah, Penang, Hulu Perak and Kelantan) and cause interference to Malaysia radio station coverage if a frequency plan is not properly planned.

It may look ok if FM 103.0MHz from Khao Buyo operates same frequency with FM 103MHz from Thepha, but co-channel interference against Thepha Radio FM 103MHz in Thepha district, Songkhla province if FM 103MHz Yala from Khao Buyo operates at higher transmitter power (more than 0.5kW).

Yala radio broadcaster which operates FM 103.0MHz in Khao Buyo can avoid interference against Thepha Radio FM 103MHz by using low power transmitter as 500W and directional antenna to avoid beaming to northwest.

The coverage map that I generate is prediction. If FM 103MHz from Khao Buyo is causing interference against Thepha FM 103MHz, the Yala broadcaster who runs FM 103.0MHz has to shift transmitter site to the town based (example: Tambon Sateng).

==Proposed paramater for Yala radio broadcaster of using FM 103.0MHz==

* Frequency: FM 103.0MHz

* Power: 0.5kW

* Transmitter site: Khao Buyo, Tambon Bannang Sareng, Mueang Yala District, Yala province, Thailand

* Antenna system: 2 bay array dipole. Main loop beams to northeast direction.

* Antenna height: 60m

RF analysis: FM 103.0MHz in Yala (excluding Betong) or Narathiwat, Thailand

Frequency parameter of FM 103.0MHz for Deep Southern Thailand broadcast.

* License: Low power

* Transmitter power: 0.5kW

* RF analysis testing provinces: Yala and Narathiwat

RF analysis testing areas for suitable transmitter site:

1. Yala province

- Yala (Khao Buyo)

- Yala (Tambon Sateng)

- Yala (Khao Pok Yo)

- Betong

2. Narathiwat

Thailand PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz, the most powerful Pattani radio station in Kelantan, Malaysia.

BY PHILIP YONG

philipyong0110@gmail.com

Thanks to Senn Lens for making awesome FM DX footage on YouTube.

In most of Kelantan areas, we usually can receive Thailand radio stations from Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, Sungai Padi and Yala, however it is very rare to catch Pattani transmitted Thai radio station.

The Thailand's PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz is the most powerful Pattani radio station in Kelantan, Malaysia in term of signal propagation and transmission.

Before Malaysia starting first lockdown (known as MCO 1.0- Movement Control Order 1.0), Senn Lens managed to receive PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz in four locations within Kelantan state. I made this news before, but the signal monitoring footage of PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz in Kelantan impressed me again when I repeated watching them. Hence, I write an article today by focusing on this radio station.

These four locations that Senn Lens received PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz were:

1. Kota Bharu

2. Pasir Mas

3. Ayer Lanas

4. Jeli

Let's watch these footage below:

1. Kota Bharu

2. Ayer Lanas

3. Pasir Mas

4. Jeli (nearby R&R Titiwangsa)

Transmitter power of PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz is 1kW, transmitted from Price of Songkhla University Pattani Campus, in Tambon Rusamilae, Mueang Pattani District, Pattani Province, Thailand.

Antenna height is 100m, meanwhile the height of transmission site above sea level is 6m. Antenna system is vertical polarization, meanwhile ERP (effective radiated power) is 2kW.

Transmission distance of PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz to Kelantan areas that Senn Lens managed to receive:

1. Kota Bharu (140km)

2. Pasir Mas (137km)

3. Ayer Lanas (142km)

4. Jeli (nearby R&R Titiwangsa) (147km)

In terms of signal reception quality of PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz, the clearest location is Jeli (nearby R&R Titiwangsa), following by Ayer Lanas and Kota Bharu, meanwhile Pasir Mas is the weakest location to receive PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz.

Revised SINPO codes are given below:

- Kota Bharu: 42233

- Pasir Mas: 12221

- Jeli (nearby R&R Titiwangsa): 55555

- Ayer Lanas: 55455

Signal quality of PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz in Kelantan (from best to worst)

1. Jeli (nearby R&R Titiwangsa)

2. Ayer Lanas

3. Kota Bharu (interference with Fly FM 107.4MHz)

4. Pasir Mas

As I mentioned before, the signal propagation of PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz to Kelantan can overlap RTM Kelantan FM 107.1MHz Bukit Bintang coverage, except Pasir Puteh and Bachok. The five videos of this radio stations by Senn Lens are very impressive to me.

If I have opportunity to come to Terengganu, I will try to catch PSU Radio Pattani in Pulau Perhentian, Setiu, Permaisuri, Pulau Redang and Kuala Terengganu.

Actual coverage map of PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz

Voice of Navy 15 FM 94.75MHz from Narathiwat, Thailand received in Kuala Krai, Kelantan, Malaysia.

If you follow Senn Lens YouTube channel, you will see his signal monitoring footage in Kuala Krai, Kelantan (74km from Kota Bharu) when he made last year.

He received Voice of Navy 15 (สทร.15) FM 94.75MHz from Narathiwat, Thailand in Kuala Krai, Kelantan, Malaysia.

According to the video description of FM 94.75MHz signal footage by Senn Lens, he claimed that Voice of Navy FM 94.75MHz from Narathiwat, Thailand is the furthest radio station that he received in Kuala Krai so far, reception is up to Kuala Krai Hospital before having static after driving a few kilometers from the hospital.

The reception of Voice of Navy 15 FM 94.75MHz from Narathiwat in Kuala Krai is beyond Mix FM 94.6MHz from Bukit Panau.

==Reception report of VON 15 FM 94.75MHz Narathiwat==

Imagine if RTM national radio stations change logo, based on recent state radio stations new logo.

On 1st April 2021, in conjunction with RTM's 75th years anniversary, its state radio stations (except KL FM) got new logos, meanwhile national radio stations (Radio Klasik, Nasional FM, Traxx FM, Ai FM, Minnal FM and Asyik FM) logo remain same.

As RTM national radio stations logo have been 16 years, imagine if they got new logos and their logos design are same as state radio stations, here are some of my drawing as fan made logo.

1. Radio Klasik

* Colour arrangement is based on Perlis FM and Mutiara FM as both have yellow colour lines.

* Background colour: Brown

* Yellow lines and "FM" logo: Yellow

* Radio Klasik is RTM Malay language classic music radio station, playing Malay oldies from 1940s till early 1990s. In respect of oldies radio station branding, targeting listeners are the golds (elder folks). By mixing yellow and brown together, it becomes gold, hence it is suitable enough to cater Radio Klasik listeners.

* If Radio Klasik new logo is based on RTM state radio station new logo, the suffix "Radio" will be dropped and Radio Klasik will be simply renamed as "Klasik FM".

2. Nasional FM

*  Colour arrangement is based on Pahang FM and Kelantan FM where both are having white colour lines.

* Background colour: Green

* Line and "FM" logo colour: White

* The flagship and Malay language infortainment radio station by RTM. I put green colour because it represents Malay community.

3. KL FM

* Colour arrangement is based on Kedah FM, just different in background colour.

* Same background colour as Labuan FM which is blue, but line and "FM" logo colour are inverse of Labuan FM.

* Line colour: Yellow

* "FM" logo colour: Red

* New logo colour arrangement consisting blue, yellow and red is based on Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur flag.

4. Traxx FM

* Colour arrangement is based on Pahang FM and Kelantan FM as both have white colour lines.

* Line colour: White

* Background is in blue colour because Traxx FM was formerly known as Blue Network (Rangkaian Biru) from 1950 to 1989.

5. Ai FM

* Colour arrangement is based on Terengganu FM as background colour is in white colour, but line and FM logo are in red colour for Ai FM new logo.

* Red lines are same as Johor FM, Sarawak FM and Selangor FM.

* Colour arrangement is inverse of Kelantan FM to avoid confusion.

* Red colour lines represent Chinese.

6. Minnal FM

 * Colour arrangement is based on Perlis FM and Mutiara FM as both stations have yellow colour lines.

* Background colour is in purple because purple represents the Indian community. By applying yellow colour on lines and "FM" logo, instead using white colour, it means "lightning".

* Perfect match when the logo is combined with purple background colour and yellow line colour.

7. Asyik FM

* Background colour: Light green

* Line colour and FM logo colour: Brown

* Light green and brown colour in the logo are representing Orang Asli community.

If RTM does really adopt these new logos on national radio stations one day, RTM already standardizes all of its radio stations under 1 logo background, but different colour arrangement, so listeners will see only standardized logo among all radio stations within RTM.

The disadvantage is RTM national radio stations new logo branding image goes more conservative and less creative. In addition, the branding of RTM national radio stations will be "downgraded" to state radio stations level if these fan made logos are being used in reality.

104.1MHz: Best FM Gunung Ulu Kali (178km)

104.1MHz: Pahang FM Bukit Pelindung (38km)
