On 18th May 2026, I paid a visit to Yong Peng, Labis and Segamat to conduct the frequency investigation to analyze whether Gunung Telapak Buruk radio transmission of FM 102.0MHz is suitable or not.
Generally RTM Johor FM 105.3MHz from Gunung Ledang covers Batu Pahat, but technically 101.9MHz Gunung Pulai transmitter also covers Batu Pahat District where 105.3MHz is less clear in certain areas.
On PLUS Highway from Pagoh to Johor Bahru, RTM Johor FM 105.3MHz becomes less clear in Yong Peng before the toll exit due to the terrain, but 101.9MHz is loud and clear.
Then, from Yong Peng to Segamat, 105.3MHz is slightly less clear at Lam Lee where is located between Yong Peng and Chaah, 101.9MHz is better there.
Through the on site investigation findings, RTM Johor FM 101.9MHz Gunung Pulai transmitter still needs to cover Batu Pahat District, such as Yong Peng, Rengit, Senggarang, Sri Gading, Ayer Hitam, Parit Raja and part of Batu Pahat town where 105.3MHz is not so clear, therefore FM 102.0MHz is not allowed to be used for the radio transmission in Gunung Telapak Buruk, despite it mainly covers Negeri Sembilan.
Someone suggested to increase the transmitter power of RTM Johor FM 105.3MHz in Gunung Ledang from 1kW to 2kW, so the signal of Johor FM 105.3MHz would be clearer in entire Batu Pahat and Kluang District, but I disagree the suggestion because it would cause interference to the coverage of Kool FM 105.3MHz Taman Sentosa transmitter in Johor Bahru.
In Tongkang Pechah, 101.9MHz has stronger signal than 105.3MHz by reading the signal strength of radio receiver.
During my journey from Yong Peng to Segamat, RTM Johor FM 101.9MHz (Gunung Pulai) starts to have interference noise from MY FM 101.8MHz Gunung Ulu Kali transmitter in Labis, then interference becomes more and louder in Tenang, Segamat, Buloh Kasop and Batu Anam.
In my opinion, the interference between RTM Johor FM 101.9MHz and MY FM 101.8MHz in North Johor (especially Segamat District) is considered very common because both transmitters are already far, then the interference happens in non-intended coverage of both transmitters, somewhat RTM Johor FM is already tuned there on 105.3MHz from Gunung Ledang.
As RTM Johor FM 101.9MHz is already interfered by MY FM 101.8MHz in Segamat District, so FM 102.0MHz Gunung Telapak Buruk should not "join" the interference war to avoid further interference.
If FM 102.0MHz is used in Gunung Telapak Buruk, RTM Johor FM 101.9MHz will be completely null in Labis, Segamat, Bekok and Chaah, then its coverage becomes unstable in Batu Pahat, Kluang, Parit Raja, Parit Sulong, Seri Medan, Paloh, Ayer Hitam, and Yong Peng, tropospheric interference is taken into the consideration of this investigation.
In several locations of Batu Pahat, Sinar FM 87.8MHz (Gunung Pulai) has interference from RTM Radio Klasik FM 87.9MHz (Gunung Telapak Buruk) when Radio Klasik FM 87.9MHz is strong in Kampung Minyak Beku, Batu Pahat.
No way to the radio transmission of FM 102.0MHz in Gunung Telapak Buruk, even FM 102.1MHz too.
==Coverage of RTM Johor FM in Central Johor==
* 101.9MHz Gunung Pulai (2kW): Kluang, Senggarang, Rengit, Ayer Hitam, Parit Raja, Seri Medan, Sri Gading, Simpang Renggam, Renggam, Machap, Yong Peng (PLUS HIGHWAY and R&R) and part of Batu Pahat
* 105.3MHz Gunung Ledang (1kW): Paloh, Semerah, Parit Sulong, Batu Pahat, Yong Peng
