RTM Muzik FM can launch at least 1 frequency on FM band in Kuala Lumpur Tower to cover Klang Valley, alongside online streaming.

RTM relaunched Muzik FM on 13th February 2024 in conjunction with World Radio Day after 6 years hiatus.

Muzik FM is only available via online streaming at www.muzikfm.rtm.gov.my or www.muzikfmrtm.com

It is impossible of Muzik FM relaunches on Nasional FM's frequencies, then Nasional FM merges with Radio Klasik and becomes Klasik Nasional because both existing radio stations (Radio Klasik and Nasional FM) are still important to RTM.

Radio Klasik has many listeners actually, especially the middle age to the seniors, meanwhile Nasional FM acts a RTM's flagship Malay language national radio station to serve the country by delivering country messages like Australia's ABC Radio National or Japan's NHK Radio 1.

It is very difficult to get a new FM frequencies nowadays due to spectrum band is fully occupied. This will cause Muzik FM cannot broadcast on FM radio transmission nationwide with new frequencies like before.

In my opinion, Muzik FM can relaunch via FM frequency transmission by setting up at least a transmitter in Kuala Lumpur Tower for Klang Valley because I may realize KL Tower may have 1 empty frequency, but lower transmitter power.

FM 107.3MHz is the only empty frequency where Muzik FM can operate in Kuala Lumpur Tower. While other RTM radio stations in Kuala Lumpur Tower operated at 1kW transmitter power per station, but I only suggest Muzik FM to operate only 300W transmitter power in Kuala Lumpur Tower due to 200kHz frequency separation with RTM Pahang FM 107.5MHz Gunung Ulu Kali transmitter which only covers West Pahang. It is already sufficient of Muzik FM 107.3MHz covering Kuala Lumpur and surrounding Klang Valley areas at 300W transmitter power from KL Tower. Interference to Pahang FM 107.5MHz coverage in West Pahang including Genting Highlands can be happened if transmitter power is set at 1kW.

It is impossible of Muzik FM to launch on new frequency in Gunung Ulu Kali for Greater Klang Valley because Gunung Ulu Kali has no vacant frequencies.

Regarding the interference to Pahang FM 107.5MHz Gunung Ulu Kali coverage in Klang Valley due to Muzik FM 107.3MHz KL Tower transmitter, as both are operated by RTM, so I strongly believe that RTM can manage the frequency interference between both parties. In addition, it is impossible of Muzik FM 107.3MHz Kuala Lumpur Tower transmitter can overspill to West Pahang and cause interference to Pahang FM 107.5MHz coverage there.

==Proposal of launching Muzik FM new frequency for Klang Valley only==

* Frequency: FM 107.3MHz

* Power: 0.3kW

* Transmitter site: Kuala Lumpur Tower

* Coverage: Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Ampang, Kajang, Puchong, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Seri Kembangan, Putrajaya, Bangi, Klang, Cyberjaya, Gombak, Selayang, Puncak Alam, and Sungai Buloh

==RF analysis==

107.0MHz: Suria FM Gunung Telapak Buruk

107.3MHz: Muzik FM Kuala Lumpur Tower

<300kHz, OK>

107.3MHz: Muzik FM Kuala Lumpur Tower

107.5MHz: Pahang FM Gunung Ulu Kali (West Pahang only)

<200kHz, OK>

==Simulated coverage map of Muzik FM 107.3MHz Kuala Lumpur Tower at 300W (Green= 54dBuV/m STEREO coverage)==

Based on the coverage map of Muzik FM 107.3MHz Kuala Lumpur Tower transmitter by following above, the coverage is sufficient in Klang Valley at 300W transmitter power, preliminary check no interference to Pahang FM 107.5MHz coverage in West Pahang.

I will express my suggestion to RTM over this proposal, hope MCMC can award the frequency to RTM for Muzik FM.

  1. Where possible Muzik FM will broadcast on frequencies in the klang valley only, Muzik FM must return to broadcast through frequencies throughout the country if Nasional FM and Radio Klasik will merge again to become Klasik Nasional.
