RTM Sarawak local radio stations (Sri Aman FM, Sibu FM, Bintulu FM, Miri FM and Limbang FM) airs 1 hour Malay language Ramadan special program from 6pm to 7pm during Ramadan month, so Wai FM Iban relay is temporarily unavailable from 6pm to 7pm.

RTM Sarawak local radio stations such as Sri Aman FM, Sibu FM, Bintulu FM, Miri FM, and Limbang FM usually relay Wai FM Iban and carry local languages program (Miri FM and Limbang FM) during non-broadcast hours from 12am to 9am, then 12pm to 12am, but it is slightly different when it comes to Ramadan month annually.

During Ramadan month, these local radio stations will have 1 hour Malay language Ramadan special program from 6pm to 7pm.

This is not an issue because it has been practiced in Sarawak for more than decades. In the past, RTM Sarawak local radio stations had launched these special programs for so long. Look back to history, Wai FM Iban only got relayed on local radio stations since 2010s gradually.

The Muslim's prayer, Sahur and Iftar (Buka Puasa) time on Sarawak FM is based in Kuching actually, but Miri, Sri Aman, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Sarikei, Betong, Kapit and Limbang Divisions have different time from Kuching for the prayers, Iftar and Sahur. Hence, RTM Sarawak local radio stations play important role to deliver local information regarding Ramadan and Buka Puasa to the Muslim community.

We cannot expect the Muslim listeners in Sri Aman, Sibu, Mukah, Betong, Sarikei, Kapit, Miri, Bintulu and Limbang to tune Sarawak FM for Iftar by not having special program on local radio stations (example: follow Kuching time for Iftar in Bintulu) because Sarawak FM's Iftar announcement is based on Kuching's time.

The content of 1 hour special Ramadan program on Sri Aman FM, Bintulu FM, Miri FM, Sibu FM and Limbang FM from 6pm to 7pm cover Ramadan information, Iftar and Sahur announcement with Maghrib prayer as well as Ramadan themed songs playlist. Before starting the program, these radio stations will air 5-6 minutes local news from Sarawak FM.

Sada Lemai on Wai FM Iban sacrifices 1 hour airtime on Sri Aman FM, Bintulu FM, Sibu FM, Miri FM and Limbang FM from 6pm to 7pm during Ramadan month in order to give way to 1 hour local special Ramadan program. However, this doesn't really affect Wai FM Iban's listeners because Wai FM Iban can be tuned alternatively during affected hour through shortwave SW 11665kHz, Astro CH871, MYTV CH710 and RTM Klik. It only happens during Ramadan month, then RTM Sarawak local radio stations will switch back to Wai FM Iban again from 6pm to 7pm during non-Ramadan months.

I realized this since April 2024 when I listened to Bintulu FM via online in the car while I was driving back from office to home. In the year of 2023, I loved to listen to Wai FM Iban via Bintulu FM online streaming, then I suddenly heard something different in the evening during Ramadan month.

In Sri Aman and Betong Division, Wai FM Iban's listeners can even access via FM 101.3MHz from Gunung Serapi and 106.9MHz from Gunung Ampungan during affected hour in Ramadan month while Sri Aman FM carries 1 hour Ramadan special program from 6pm to 7pm, but signal may not be clear.
