Hitz FM can be tuned alternatively in Jerantut, Pahang via Seremban frequency FM 95.0MHz from Gunung Telapak Burok when Klang Valley/West Pahang frequency FM 92.9MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali is unavailable (due to interference with Pahang FM 92.7MHz local transmitter from Bukit Istana)

The Astro Radio's English contemporary hot and TOP40 radio station Hitz FM Klang Valley frequency FM 92.9MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali does not only cover Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, it also covers Southern Perak, and large part of Pahang (West and Central).

In Pahang, Hitz FM has Kuantan frequency FM 93.2MHz from Bukit Pelindung, but it only covers East Pahang (Kuantan and Pekan), however rest of Pahang areas such as Temerloh, Maran, Bera, Bentong, Kuala Lipis and some part of Raub rely on FM 92.9MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali, meanwhile Muadzam Shah relies on FM 93.0MHz from Gunung Ledang.

In Jerantut, when it comes to general geography condition, basically Hitz FM is received on FM 92.9MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali, but technically Hitz FM and any radio stations from Gunung Ulu Kali signals are unavailable in Jerantut town, Pahang.

During Hari Raya Aidiladha (Eid-al-Adha) holiday, I travel to Jerantut, Pahang and run FM DX signal monitoring together. From Temerloh to Jerantut town, the signal of Hitz FM 92.9MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali becomes weak when I cross Jerantut-Temerloh district border after Kuala Krau, meanwhile Pahang FM 92.7MHz from Bukit Istana is getting clearer.

In Jerantut town (within 8km radius), I check Hitz FM signal with three frequencies.

- 92.9MHz Gunung Ulu Kali (Klang Valley/West Pahang) [86km]

- 93.0MHz Gunung Ledang (Melaka/North Johor) [176km]

- 95.0MHz Gunung Telapak Burok (Negeri Sembilan) [125km]

Here are the results:

- 92.9MHz: Mild signal, and interference noise of RTM Pahang FM 92.7MHz from Bukit Istana is detected.

- 93.0MHz: Negative signal

- 95.0MHz: Poor to moderate signal

Hitz FM 92.9MHz Gunung Ulu Kali transmission is unavailable in Jerantut due to adjacent channel interference (ACI) with Pahang FM 92.7MHz from Bukit Istana which is a local transmitter for that town. In my opinion, the interference from Pahang FM 92.7MHz to Hitz FM 92.9MHz in Jerantut is not a problem because Jerantut is not the broadcast license area of Gunung Ulu Kali tower. Technically, Gunung Ulu Kali transmission cannot cover Jerantut because the town is having many mountains where already block Gunung Ulu Kali signal transmission.

92.7MHz: Pahang FM Bukit Istana (launched in 1991)

92.9MHz: Hitz FM Gunung Ulu Kali (launched in 1997)

Based on technical radio frequency analysis, it is very sufficient to separate the frequency at 200kHz between Gunung Ulu Kali and Bukit Istana, compare to FM 89.9MHz where Traxx FM Bukit Istana and BFM 89.9 Gunung Ulu Kali are co-channel, causing interference outside of Jerantut town (more than 15km from the transmitter tower in Bukit Istana). In terms of frequency history, Pahang FM 92.7MHz operation was earlier than Hitz FM 92.9MHz, but both are having different service areas.

Alternatively, Hitz FM is still available in Jerantut, Pahang (limited to the town only) via Seremban frequency FM 95.0MHz from Gunung Telapak Burok when 92.9MHz is interfered by Pahang FM local transmitter 92.7MHz from Bukit Istana.

Based on tested frequency, Hitz FM 95.0MHz is the best and only available frequency which can be tuned in Jerantut, Pahang (excluding Tembeling, Damak, Tahan areas).

When I'm on the way driving to Jerantut town center from Kuala Krau & Temerloh, Hitz FM 95.0MHz is available all the way, but it is weak in the old town (left turn after a T-junction), meanwhile signal condition nearby McDonald's Jerantut, Caltex Jerantut and locations after Econsave Jerantut are better when tune on 95.0MHz.

The signal monitoring video of Hitz FM 95.0MHz in Jerantut is taken nearby Taman Saujana Indah where located nearby the town.

In conclusion, FM 95.0MHz is the alternative frequency for Hitz FM in Jerantut, Pahang.
