Review on Perak FM Tanjung Malim and Slim River reception

Perak FM is a Malay language radio station for Perak states, which is owned by RTM (Radio Televisyen Malaysia).

The Perak FM frequencies in South Perak, mainly are 97.3MHz from Changkat Rembian, and 89.6MHz from Bukit Asa. In South Perak, Perak FM 95.6 from Gunung Kledang, Ipoh is still can be received in certain area of South Perak, but not so clear.

Perak FM 97.3MHz from Changkat Rembian, covers Tapah, Bidor, Sungkai, and Trolak, meanwhile 89.6MHz from Bukit Asa, covers only Slim River and Tanjung Malim.

In Slim River, Trolak and Tanjung Malim, I find that radio stations reception quality which transmitted from Gunung Ulu Kali (Genting Highlands) is much better than local transmitter in South Perak such as Bukit Asa.

Perak FM 89.6MHz (from Bukit Asa) is low power transmitter, it only covers 25km area from Bukit Asa (up to Slim River), its reception is not so good in some certain areas of Slim River.

RTM can locate Perak FM transmitter in Gunung Ulu Kali for South Perak area only, so that it provides better reception in Trolak, Slim River and Tanjung Malim than transmitted from Bukit Asa, even in Sungkai, Tapah, Bidor and Hilir Perak still can receive Perak FM from Gunung Ulu Kali. If Perak FM locates its transmitter in Gunung Ulu Kali, it is only for South Perak and nearby area like North Selangor (Hulu Selangor), not for Klang Valley and Pahang. Therefore, the reception of Perak FM from Gunung Ulu Kali will not be clear in Klang Valley, South Selangor and West Pahang, like Pahang FM 107.5MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali, only covers West Pahang.

Optionally, RTM Perak FM can migrate its Bukit Asa frequency from 89.6MHz to 89.5MHz, so this can avoid interference with 89.9MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali. In addition, with frequency migration to 89.5MHz, this can allow Perak FM to increase power to cover South Perak.
