The Chinese business radio station CityPlus FM 106.0MHz in Seremban has been on air for 5 years since 2nd May 2017, meanwhile CityPlus FM Kuching broadcast 92.5MHz launched in May 2018, but it was closed down in May 2020.
After CityPlus FM closed down its Kuching frequency FM 92.5MHz transmission, FM 92.5MHz went off air since May 2020.
Its Facebook page content is mostly relaying CityPlus FM main page.
Today morning, after I wake up, I check my phone message and Facebook notifications, I have spotted CityPlus FM Kuching Facebook page is renamed as "Kupi-Kupi FM Sarawak". It is giving hints that OOGA X (formerly known as Cense Media Sdn Bhd) would launch a new radio station to deliver Sarawak local ethnics content on the frequency FM 92.5MHz in Kuching.
OOGA X also operates Kupi-Kupi FM 96.3MHz in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Its main language is Sabahan Malay, but it plays Kadazan-Dusun, Murut, Bajau songs like RTM Sabah VFM does.
From what I have analyzed is "Kupi-Kupi FM Sarawak 92.5MHz" will likely broadcast in Ibanese, Bidayuh and Sarawakian Malay language like Cats FM, and RTM Wai FM.
Kupi-Kupi FM Sarawak 92.5MHz (Kuching) is expected to compete against Cats FM.
In Sarawak, alongside Malay language, Ibanese is the largest local language among all, following by Bidayuh, Kenyah, and Kayan.
The official launch is still unknown yet, but I believe Kupi-Kupi FM 92.5MHz Kuching will start trial transmission first before going on air officially.
FM 92.5MHz transmitter site will remain same location, Bukit Djin.
For your information, Kupi-Kupi FM Sarawak will take over FM 92.5MHz slot which its former radio station CityPlus FM Kuching has been switched off for more than 2 years.
Here are the screenshot that I have spotted today morning.
The Indonesia public broadcaster TVRI had completed its transmission tower construction in Rokan Hilir, Riau, Indonesia last month and test transmission of DVB-T2 digital terrestrial TV service was rolled out. Then, TVRI officially launches its DVB-T2 transmission in Rokan Hilir, Riau Province, Indonesia.
From November 2022, TVRI can be accessed in Rokan Hilir. Before this, none of Indonesia terrestrial TV channels can be accessed in Rokan Hilir, however Malaysia TV and radio stations can be received clearly there via overspill signal.
The assigned frequency of TVRI in Rokan Hilir is UHF 626MHz (CH40).
In Malaysia, coastal areas like Sepang, Sungai Pelek, Kuala Langat, Port Dickson and Tanjung Sepat may be able to receive TVRI signal from Rokan Hilir on UHF 626MHz (CH40) if UHF outdoor antenna is pointing to southwest direction with antenna booster.
If I own a portable DVB-T2 receiver, I can DX TVRI signal from Rokan Hilir in Sepang, Morib, Banting, Kuala Langat, Tanjung Sepat, Port Dickson and Sungai Pelek when there is a chance to do so.

From 2016 to 2020, outside Klang Valley, I usually managed to receive BFM 89.9 signal from Gunung Ulu Kali in Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Melaka, West Pahang and some areas of North Johor.
In the year of 2021 and 2022, I break my record again because I could receive BFM 89.9 in Kelantan.
In Kelantan state, there are three locations where BFM 89.9 is receivable, but weak signal is heard.
1. Kampung Mentara Lama (150km)
- A southernmost location in Kelantan where located next to Pahang border. It is 20km away from Gua Musang town, its neighboring place is Merapoh in Pahang.
2. Kuala Betis (163km)
Located 19km away from Gua Musang town. Recorded nearby Lojing-Cameron Highlands road junction before driving to Cameron Highlands, adjacent channel interference with RTM Radio Klasik FM 89.7MHz from Bukit Chupak was detected when tune to BFM 89.9 in Kuala Betis.
3. Felda Paloh 2 (182km)
The furthest location in Kelantan to receive BFM 89.9. Signal is extremely weak, no interference with RTM Radio Klasik FM 89.7MHz from Bukit Chupak is detected during reception. (Note: Radio Klasik FM 89.7MHz Bukit Chupak signal is disappeared when reach Rantau Manis, hence no signal is detected in Felda Paloh on 89.7MHz)
Overall 3 locations in Kelantan are located in Gua Musang district.
RTM Terengganu FM officially closed down Felda Cerul frequency transmission FM 90.0MHz. Now, Terengganu FM remains only 5 transmitters in its frequencies lineup to cover entire Terengganu state.
1. FM 88.7MHz Bukit Besar: Central Terengganu (Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Hulu Terengganu & Kuala Nerus)
2. FM 96.2MHz Bukit Bintang: North Terengganu (Besut & Setiu) dan Kelantan (Pasir Puteh, Bachok dan sebahagian Kota Bharu)
3. FM 97.7MHz Bukit Bauk: Dungun
4. FM 90.7MHz Bukit Kemuning: Kemaman dan Sebahagian Pahang Timur (Kuantan Utara)
5. FM 88.9MHz Felda Tenang: Hulu Besut
This is because Felda Cerul, Felda Neram, Perasing and Jabor where located in Kemaman district can receive Terengganu FM via Bukit Kemuning transmitter on the frequency FM 90.7MHz clearly.
While I was driving from Kuantan to Kemaman on 30th August 2022, the reception of Terengganu FM 90.7MHz was still clear in Beserah and Semambu where are not far from Terengganu border (Jabor).
In addition, when I was in Bukit Goh, no signal was detected on FM 90.0MHz from Terengganu FM from Felda Cerul. By generating Terengganu FM 90.0MHz Felda Cerul coverage map via Nautel RF Toolkit with entering simple transmission parameter, Bukit Goh was having Terengganu FM 90.0MHz coverage from Felda Cerul, however I could not hear any signal on that frequency in Bukit Goh, even Jabor and Semambu. Hence, I conclude that Terengganu FM 90.0MHz transmission was already switched off.
Looking at the frequency history, Terengganu FM 90.0MHz Felda Cerul transmitter was launched earlier than 90.7MHz from Bukit Kemuning.
FM 90.0MHz Felda Cerul was launched in somewhere around 2010, meanwhile FM 90.7MHz Bukit Kemuning was launched in 2015.
In conclusion, the entire Kemaman district is now covered by Terengganu FM 90.7MHz transmission from Bukit Kemuning after Felda Cerul FM 90.0MHz was closed down.
In Kelantan, Fly FM has tuning frequency on 107.4MHz, mainly covers Kota Bharu. Transmitter site is located in TV3 Peringat tower where it is belonged to Media Prima, and transmitter power is only 0.25kW.
Fly FM 107.4MHz covers Kota Bharu, Bachok, Machang, Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas (except Rantau Panjang), Tumpat and part of Kuala Krai.
In Dabong and Kuala Balah, Fly FM 107.4MHz signal is still receivable, but moderate signal to weak.
- Dabong (80km)
- Kuala Balah (78km)
I received Fly FM 107.4MHz in Dabong and Kuala Balah under the condition where RTM Kelantan FM 107.2MHz gap filler transmitter in Dabong is dead (off air). Fly FM 107.4MHz would have adjacent channel interference with Kelantan FM 107.2MHz in Kuala Balah and Dabong.
In Dabong, very mild interference with a Thailand radio station FM 107.5MHz from Lochut is detected, meanwhile Fly FM 107.4MHz signal is clean without interference from Thailand radio station in Kuala Balah, but weaker than Dabong.
RTM Terengganu FM telah menamatkan pemancaran frekuensi FM 90.0MHz di Felda Cerul. Kini, Terengganu FM mempunyai lima frekuensi untuk meliputi negeri Terengganu seperti:
1. FM 88.7MHz Bukit Besar: Terengganu Tengah (Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Hulu Terengganu & Kuala Nerus)
2. FM 96.2MHz Bukit Bintang: Terengganu Utara (Besut & Setiu) dan Kelantan (Pasir Puteh, Bachok dan sebahagian Kota Bharu)
3. FM 97.7MHz Bukit Bauk: Dungun
4. FM 90.7MHz Bukit Kemuning: Kemaman dan Sebahagian Pahang Timur (Kuantan Utara)
5. FM 88.9MHz Felda Tenang: Hulu Besut
Kuala Balah is a small town located in Jeli district, Kelantan. It is 22km from Dabong and 32km from Jeli town. On 23rd October 2022, during my visit to Dabong, I also included Kuala Balah. After I completed radio signal monitoring in Dabong at 10:30 am, originally I supposedly ate at Naura's Bristo where located next to KTM Dabong which I planned earlier, unfortunately I was informed that the restaurant had not opened until 12pm, then I had not taken breakfast yet. Hence, I had to drive to Kuala Balah early for brunch and radio signal monitoring there.
About receiving Thailand radio stations in Kuala Balah, the stations lineup is about the same as Dabong with FM 92.5MHz Sungai Padi, but minus FM 107.5MHz Lochut. In Kuala Balah, I caught 9 Thailand radio stations signal.
1. Khon Tak Bai Radio FM 88.75MHz (90km from Tak Bai)
Khon Tak Bai Radio FM 88.75MHz signal in Kuala Balah is stronger than Dabong.
2. Thailand Parliament Radio Station FM 89.0MHz (115km from Khao Pok Yo)
3. Radio Thailand Yala FM 92.0MHz (115km from Khao Pok Yo)
Signal is weak without interference. Compare to Dabong, co-channel interference between Radio Thailand Yala and Kelantan FM (Bukit Chupak) on FM 92.0MHz is not detected in Kuala Balah.
4. Kor Wor Sor 6 FM 92.5MHz Sungai Padi (79km)
Weakest Thailand radio station ever in Kuala Balah, Kelantan, Malaysia.
5. Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz (115km from Khao Pok Yo)
6. Voice of Navy 15 FM 94.75MHz Narathiwat (111km)
The second clearest Thailand radio station in Kuala Balah, Kelantan. Same with Dabong, its adjacent station Mix FM 94.6MHz from Bukit Panau is not receivable in Kuala Balah.
7. Radio Thailand Yala FM 95.0MHz (115km from Khao Pok Yo)
8. Radio Thailand Narathiwat FM 98.25MHz (109km)
9. MCOT Yala FM 102.5MHz (115km from Khao Pok Yo)
10. Radio Thailand Sungai Golok FM 106.5MHz (66km)
The clearest Thailand radio station in Kuala Balah, Kelantan among all, regardless tuning in car or portable radio receiver.
==Thailand radio station reception in Kuala Balah, Kelantan TOP 10 (from strongest to weakest)==
After 8FM Kuantan frequency 100.4MHz had been switched to Molek FM on 2nd October 2022, 8FM can be only received partially in Kuantan by tuning the frequency 88.1MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali, but not all areas in Kuantan can receive 8FM 88.1MHz.
On previous article, I had talked about the reception of RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz in Simpang Ampat, Melaka, Malaysia.
Alongside RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz, I also did receive a powerful Singapore radio station signal in Pedas Linggi, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, it was Mediacorp Symphony FM 92.4MHz.
Symphony FM 92.4MHz from Singapore was tuned in Pedas Linggi, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia when I was heading to Melaka.
Signal was recorded on PLUS Highway in between Pedas Linggi and Simpang Ampat toll exits, adjacent channel interference with RTM Minnal FM 92.3MHz from Kuala Lumpur Tower was detected during the reception. Recorded at the time 0637 hours (UTC+8).
I believe that Symphony FM 92.4MHz from Singapore in Pedas Linggi, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia was the tropospheric propagation because no signal was heard anymore when I tuned in afternoon while I was going back to Kuala Lumpur from Melaka after the conference was ended.
- Frequency: FM 92.4MHz
- Power: 10kW
- Transmission site: Bukit Batok, Singapore
- Receiving site: Pedas Linggi, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia
- Distance: 221km
Alongside Symphony 92.4FM, I also received 88.3 Jia FM in the same location, but co-channel interference with 8FM 88.3MHz from Bukit Gun. (Note: 8FM 88.3MHz goes no signal after Pedas Linggi toll exit)
A week ago, I went to Melaka for a special conference which related to my main job within automotive service industry on last Thursday.
In the middle way, I could receive Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz in Simpang Ampat, Alor Gajah, Melaka, Malaysia when I was driving on PLUS Highway. The signal of RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz was certainly available from Simpang Ampat until Ayer Keroh on PLUS Highway. After I went through Ayer Keroh toll while I was on my way to Melaka town, RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz was received until Ayer Keroh Industrial Area, then no signal was heard anymore.
Despite RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz has 200kHz frequency separation with RTM Johor FM 105.3MHz from Gunung Ledang, but no adjacent channel interference was detected when I tuned to RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz in Simpang Ampat, Alor Gajah, Melaka, Malaysia because RTM Johor FM 105.3MHz reception was very terrible there due to co-channel interference with Suria FM 105.3MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali.
Signal was moderately weak when I tuned to RRI Batam PRO-1 on PLUS Highway (Alor Gajah section).
Video was recorded on 20th October 2022 at 0640 hours (UTC+8) before Simpang Ampat toll interchange when I was driving southbound to Ayer Keroh.
==RRI Batam PRO-1 FM 105.1MHz reception in Alor Gajah, Melaka==
* Frequency: FM 105.1MHz
* Power: 5kW
* Transmitter site: TVRI Batam, Indonesia
* Receiving site: Simpang Ampat, Alor Gajah, Melaka (nearby Negeri Sembilan border)
The Thailand radio broadcaster MCOT Radio announced to cease its provincial radio station, MCOT Narathiwat FM 96.0MHz on 10th April 2022, and MCOT informed that Narathiwat listeners can follow MCOT Radio broadcast via MCOT Yala FM 102.5MHz and MCOT Pattani FM 91.0MHz in that province.
After 4 months from the date of MCOT Narathiwat FM 96.0MHz ceased its broadcast, there was a radio station taking over the frequency slot FM 96.0MHz.
KCS Radio began trial transmission in Narathiwat on FM 96.0MHz somewhere around in August 2022 and it went on air officially in September 2022.
Technically, KCS Radio takes over former MCOT Narathiwat FM 96.0MHz frequency slot.
Alongside Narathiwat, KCS Radio FM 96.0MHz can be tuned in part of Kelantan, Malaysia. This radio station can be received in several Kelantan areas such as:
1. Kota Bharu
2. Tumpat
3. Pengkalan Chepa
4. Pengkalan Kubor
5. Wakaf Bharu
6. Rantau Panjang
7. Part of Bachok
My friend from Kelantan recorded a video of receiving KCS Radio Narathiwat FM 96.0MHz in Bachok, Kelantan and sent me privately, then I published on my YouTube channel with the credit and courtesy.
Signal reception is moderately clear in Bachok, Kelantan, Malaysia.
About the transmission site, as the propagation is not strong as FM 94.75MHz and Radio Thailand Narathiwat FM 98.25MHz, I may believe KCS Radio FM 96.0MHz is transmitted from either former MCOT Radio Narathiwat tower or all-new site without modifying the transmission power and antenna system parameters.
On last Sunday, I went to Dabong, Kelantan for radio signal monitoring activity to check distant radio stations. I planned the Dabong trip for more than 6 months, then I made it on 23rd October 2022.
Originally I would like to come in November 2021 with Gua Musang trip 4 days 3 nights, but I cancelled as I would like to spend more time in Gua Musang. Then, I carried forward Dabong trip to 2022.
I came to Dabong, but I stayed in Gua Musang for a night by checking in at the same hotel where I was used to stay last year because Gua Musang is the nearest town from Dabong, compare to Kuala Krai. So, Gua Musang became the most strategic location for my Dabong trip.
Thailand radio stations are my target for FM DX in Dabong, Kelantan, Malaysia.
The exact location that I filmed Thailand FM radio stations signal is at KTM Railway Station in Dabong, Kelantan. Total of 10 Thailand radio stations were received in Dabong, Kelantan, Malaysia.
1. Khon Tak Bai Radio FM 88.75MHz from Tak Bai, Thailand (96km)
The most powerful low power Narathiwat radio station so far, FM 88.75MHz based in Tak Bai (nearby Tumpat, Kelantan). Transmission power of Khon Tak Bai Radio FM 88.75MHz is 0.5kW only, interference with Hot FM 88.6MHz from Peringat could be detected at KTM Dabong.
2. Thailand Parliament Radio Station FM 89.0MHz Yala (127km from Khao Pok Yo)
Transmitted from Khao Pok Yo with 2kW power transmitter, signal is moderately weak at KTM Dabong.
3. Radio Thailand Yala FM 92.0MHz (127km from Khao Pok Yo)
Although Radio Thailand Yala FM 92.0MHz operates at 10kW power in Khao Pok Yo as the most powerful radio station from Yala in terms of output transmitter power, but FM 92.0MHz is the weakest Radio Thailand Yala station in Dabong by comparing its signal with FM 94.25MHz and FM 95.0MHz. In Dabong, Radio Thailand Yala FM 92.0MHz has co-channel interference with RTM Kelantan FM 92.0MHz from Bukit Chupak where it covers Gua Musang town only.
I detected the interference between Radio Thailand Yala and Kelantan FM on the frequency FM 92.0MHz at KTM Dabong. In addition, co-channel interference on FM 92.0MHz was also detected on a bridge nearby Sungai Galas when I entered Dabong small town.
4. Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz (127km)
The clearest Radio Thailand Yala frequency in Dabong, compare with FM 92.0MHz, despite the transmitter power is only 1kW.
5. Voice of Navy 15 FM 94.75MHz Narathiwat (120km)
The clearest Narathiwat based radio station in Dabong with STEREO signal, transmitter power is 1kW. When I attempted tuning Mix FM 94.6MHz from Bukit Panau, no signal was heard, instead adjacent channel interference from this radio station (FM 94.75MHz).
6. Radio Thailand Yala FM 95.0MHz (127km from Khao Pok Yo)
The only Malay language radio station in Thailand is available in Dabong, Kelantan, Malaysia. Reception is slightly poor, but better than FM 92.0MHz, transmitter power is 1kW.
7. Radio Thailand Narathiwat FM 98.25MHz (118km)
The clearest Narathiwat radio station in Dabong, following by FM 94.75MHz, reception is quite clear with STEREO signal, transmission power is 5kW. No interference with RTM Radio Klasik FM 98.3MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali was detected so far.
8. MCOT Yala FM 102.5MHz (127km from Khao Pok Yo)
Same signal quality with Radio Thailand Yala FM 92.0MHz in Dabong, but stable reception. Transmission power is 1kW, transmitted from Khao Pok Yo.
9. Radio Thailand Sungai Golok FM 106.5MHz (72km)
Another clearest Thailand radio station in Dabong, transmitter power is 5kW. It is still clear in Kuala Balah and Kampung Jelawang. Alongside Dabong, Radio Thailand Sungai Golok FM 106.5MHz can be heard until Kampung Meranto and Kampung Pulau Setelu in Gua Musang district, Kelantan.
10. Army Radio FM 107.5MHz Lochut (56km)
The Thailand radio station which interferes Fly FM 107.4MHz coverage in Kota Bharu is partly available in Dabong, but the interference with Fly FM 107.4MHz from Peringat can be heard in Dabong. By comparing the signal between FM 107.4MHz and FM 107.5MHz, Fly FM 107.4MHz signal is clearer than this Thailand radio station FM 107.5MHz.
Possibly FM 107.5MHz is reduced transmission power or modified antenna system due to interference with Fly FM 107.4MHz in Kota Bharu. Hence, Thailand radio station FM 107.5MHz is no longer available in Gua Musang nowadays. In Gua Musang, FM 107.5MHz is now a weak signal of RTM Pahang FM from Gunung Ulu Kali.
Among all 10 Thailand radio stations received in Dabong, with including overall propagation (outside of KTM Dabong), Radio Thailand Sungai Golok FM 106.5MHz is the clearest, following by FM 94.75MHz and FM 98.25MHz.
Here are the TOP 10 Thailand radio stations reception in Dabong, Kelantan, Malaysia (from clearest to weakest)
1. Radio Thailand Sungai Golok FM 106.5MHz
2. Voice of Navy 15 FM 94.75MHz Narathiwat
3. Radio Thailand Narathiwat FM 98.25MHz
4. Radio Thailand Yala FM 94.25MHz
5. Radio Thailand Yala FM 95.0MHz
6. Thailand Parliament Radio Station Yala FM 89.0MHz
7. Radio Thailand Yala FM 92.0MHz
8. MCOT Yala FM 102.5MHz
9. Khon Tak Bai Radio FM 88.75MHz
10. Army Radio FM 107.5MHz Lochut
On top of that, I did try receiving several Thailand radio stations such as KCS Radio FM 96.0MHz Narathiwat, 912 Radio Station FM 99.1MHz Narathiwat, MCOT Radio Pattani FM 91.0MHz and PSU Radio Pattani FM 107.25MHz, but no signal from these radio stations were received in Dabong, Kelantan, Malaysia due to different propagation.
Alongside Dabong, Radio Thailand Sungai Golok FM 106.5MHz signal is still clear in Kampung Jelawang where it is just 8km away from Dabong. Kampung Jelawang is a village located in Kuala Krai district, located not far from Gua Musang district border.
When I was in Dabong to do radio check, the radio stations availability are mostly from Kota Bharu, Machang and Thailand there, however I could receive Minnal FM on the frequency 96.3MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali in Dabong, Kelantan.
Minnal FM can be received in Dabong on 100.9MHz from Bukit Bakar, meanwhile 106.7MHz from RTM Kota Bharu is weak there.
It is unexpected enough that I received Minnal FM 96.3MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali in Dabong while I also received Thailand radio stations signal there.
Mild adjacent channel interference with RTM Nasional FM 96.5MHz from Bukit Bakar was detected in Dabong, Kelantan.
By calculating the transmission distance, RTM Minnal FM 96.3MHz is the furthest radio station tuned in Dabong, Kelantan with the distance as much as 218km from Gunung Ulu Kali.
* Frequency: FM 96.3MHz
* Power: 2kW
* Transmission site: Gunung Ulu Kali, Pahang
* Receiving site: Dabong, Kelantan
* Distance: 218km
In Dabong, the clearest frequency to tune to this radio station is 100.9MHz from Bukit Bakar where it is located in Machang (mainly covers Central Kelantan areas such as Machang, Kuala Krai, Tanah Merah, Kota Bharu, and Pasir Mas).
