Since 13th February 2026, CityPlus FM had ceased broadcast of its frequency transmission, currently FM 106.0MHz is empty in Negeri Sembilan.
We had seen that Kool FM expanded coverage in Melaka, Johor Bahru and Ipoh by taking over frequencies from Eight FM last year in November 2025, but as today, Kool FM has not reached Seremban yet by launching frequency there.
As CityPlus FM 106.0MHz is already closed and the frequency is vacated. In my opinion, I strongly suggest Kool FM to use the frequency slot for Negeri Sembilan, so the listeners can tune Kool FM in Negeri Sembilan, but there is a condition has to be followed.
1. Rather than frequency acquisition which will breach the broadcast regulation (unless with MCMC's approval), the license holder of CityPlus FM, OOGA X should surrender the frequency 106.0MHz to MCMC, then Media Prima Audio can request the frequency to MCMC for Kool FM.
It is unknown of OOGA X still holds the frequency FM 106.0MHz or already surrender to MCMC currently. This is because OOGA X may relaunch CityPlus FM 106.0MHz in months.
After 8 years as Chinese business radio station, CityPlus will be transformed as lifestyle media, heavily focusing on social media, but it is unknown whether CityPlus will relaunch FM 106.0MHz as Chinese lifestyle radio station or not in the future because some sources say that CityPlus FM 106.0MHz switch off is just temporary.
Under MCMC's regulation, if a radio broadcaster has not surrendered frequency to MCMC, none of new radio player is allowed to purchase the frequency from another broadcaster without MCMC's approval.
The reason of me to suggest Kool FM to "take over" frequency from CityPlus FM for Seremban area is Gunung Telapak Buruk has no empty frequency other than 106.0MHz, then coincidentally CityPlus FM 106.0MHz is closed down, so I think it is an opportunity to Media Prima Audio to launch Kool FM in Seremban by using 106.0MHz. In addition, the frequency FM 102.0MHz that I nominated cannot be used in Gunung Telapak Buruk because the radio transmission can cause interference to the coverage of Johor FM 101.9MHz in Central Johor (Batu Pahat and Kluang District) where 105.3MHz Gunung Ledang transmitter is not so clear in certain locations such as Sri Gading, Parit Raja and some part of Yong Peng. Therefore, I aim the frequency 106.0MHz.
I don't suggest Kool FM to launch Seremban frequency in Bukit Gun because the coverage is very small, Bukit Gun transmitter tower can only cover Seremban, the signal is disappeared outside Seremban.
If Kool FM uses 106.0MHz in Seremban, it can solve the co-channel interference between Kool FM Gunung Ledang and Eight WuXian Gunung Ulu Kali on 88.1MHz in Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and part of Melaka. Kool FM 88.1MHz suffers co-channel interference from Eight FM in Northwest Melaka (Masjid Tanah, Sungai Udang, Lubok Cina, Kuala Sungai Baru) due to same frequency, so with Seremban frequency 106.0MHz, the listeners in affected areas can tune alternatively on this frequency. Hence, co-channel interference issue is instantly cracked down.
Hopefully OOGA X will surrender FM 106.0MHz to MCMC if the company doesn't wish to continue operating CityPlus, then it only allows Kool FM to broadcast in Negeri Sembilan on 106.0MHz when Media Prima requests the frequency to MCMC.
