On 3rd November 2025, Kool FM had reached Ipoh (87.6), Melaka (88.1) and Johor Bahru (105.3) by taking over the frequencies from Eight FM.
As today, Kool FM has not launched Seremban frequency yet, but I attempted to propose Kool FM to use 102.0MHz in Gunung Telapak Buruk to cover Negeri Sembilan recently.
FM 102.0MHz is currently an empty frequency in Negeri Sembilan, so I think there is a potential of Kool FM can use this frequency in Seremban generally, transmitted from Gunung Telapak Buruk, but technically it has no guarantee whether MCMC approves this frequency or not for Gunung Telapak Buruk radio transmission by Kool FM.
101.8MHz: MY FM Gunung Ulu Kali
102.0MHz: Kool FM Gunung Telapak Buruk
(200kHz, OK)
102.0MHz: Kool FM Gunung Telapak Buruk
102.3MHz: Melaka FM Gunung Ledang
(300kHz, OK)
102.0MHz: Kool FM Gunung Telapak Buruk
102.2MHz: Pahang FM Bukit Fraser
(200kHz, OK)
101.9MHz: Johor FM Gunung Pulai
102.0MHz: Kool FM Gunung Telapak Buruk
(100kHz, NOT OK as Johor FM has already separated with MY FM 101.8MHz at 100kHz)
By looking at RTM radio stations from Gunung Pulai, none of radio stations separate at 100kHz with Gunung Telapak Buruk radio stations, despite there are examples of 100kHz frequency separation between Gunung Pulai and Gunung Telapak Buruk radio stations by following below:
87.8MHz: Sinar FM Gunung Pulai
87.9MHz: Radio Klasik Gunung Telapak Buruk
101.4MHz: Suria FM Gunung Pulai
101.5MHz: Raaga FM Gunung Telapak Buruk
103.6MHz: Era FM Gunung Telapak Buruk
103.7MHz: Raaga FM Gunung Pulai
104.5MHz: Era FM Gunung Pulai
104.6MHz: Lite FM Gunung Telapak Buruk
For RTM radio stations, Traxx FM 102.9MHz Gunung Pulai has 200kHz frequency separation with IKIM FM 102.7MHz Gunung Telapak Buruk transmitter, most of its radio stations have 0kHz or 100kHz with Gunung Ulu Kali transmitted radio stations by following below:
101.8MHz: MY FM Gunung Ulu Kali
101.9MHz: Johor FM Gunung Pulai
102.9MHz: Traxx FM Gunung Pulai
103.0MHz: Melody FM Gunung Ulu Kali
104.9MHz: Zayan FM Gunung Ulu Kali
104.9MHz: Ai FM Gunung Pulai
105.7MHz: Lite FM Gunung Ulu Kali
105.7MHz: Nasional FM Gunung Pulai
106.7MHz: Ai FM Gunung Ulu Kali
106.7MHz: Radio Klasik Gunung Pulai
When RTM Johor FM 101.9MHz already has 100kHz frequency separation with MY FM 101.8MHz, both radio stations are interfering each other in North Johor areas like Segamat, Batu Anam, Sungai Mati, and part of Muar. RTM Johor FM 101.9MHz will have more interference in North Johor if the frequency FM 102.0MHz is used in Gunung Telapak Buruk.
Back to January 2023, I managed to record the videos of tuning RTM Johor FM 101.9MHz in Segamat and Batu Anam, it was already having interference with MY FM 101.8MHz. If I propose FM 102.0MHz Gunung Telapak Buruk radio transmission for Kool FM in Negeri Sembilan, it will be even worse.
101.8MHz: MY FM Gunung Ulu Kali
101.9MHz: Johor FM Gunung Pulai
102.0MHz: Kool FM Gunung Telapak Buruk
When it comes to this situation, Johor FM 101.9MHz is badly "sandwiched" by MY FM 101.8MHz and Kool FM 102.0MHz. Although Johor FM can be tuned loudly and clearly on 105.3MHz Gunung Ledang transmitter in North Johor, but Johor FM 101.9MHz also backs up some blindspot areas of 105.3MHz such as Seri Medan, Parit Sulong and Yong Peng.
Some areas between Yong Peng and Chaah rely on FM 101.9MHz because Johor FM cannot be received clearly on FM 105.3MHz due to terrains. If FM 102.0MHz is used in Gunung Telapak Buruk, Johor FM 101.9MHz will suffer interference in these areas while 105.3MHz has poor signal, so Johor FM has no alternative frequency in affected areas.
In addition, Gunung Telapak Buruk radio transmission can overspill signal to part of Kluang where is the coverage of Johor FM 101.9MHz from Gunung Pulai transmitter. In Kluang District (except Paloh and Kahang) and part of Batu Pahat District (Ayer Hitam, Sri Gading, Seri Medan, Rengit, Senggarang, and part of Yong Peng), Johor FM is mostly tuned on 101.9MHz from Gunung Pulai which is clearer than 105.3MHz from Gunung Ledang.
In conclusion, when Johor FM 101.9MHz and MY FM 101.8MHz are already having "interference war" in North Johor and Melaka, I may not recommend FM 102.0MHz to be used in Gunung Telapak Buruk for Negeri Sembilan, even if I present the RF proposal to MCMC, I don't think there is guarantee whether MCMC will approve or reject this frequency transmission, regardless low or high transmitter power.
Seremban dah Kool? Masih tak belum KOOL lagi.
