Back to 29th September 2024, I checked the radio reception of Eight FM in Pekan Nanas and Pontian on 88.1MHz and 105.3MHz, but in these two towns, Eight FM is still tuned on 88.1MHz from Gunung Ledang, meanwhile FM 105.3MHz is still a weak radio signal of RTM Johor FM Gunung Ledang transmitter without interference from Eight FM Johor Bahru frequency which is transmitted from Taman Sentosa, not Gunung Pulai.
Today, I check its radio signal in 5 locations of South Johor such as Senai, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, Ulu Tiram and Skudai to compare between 88.1MHz and 105.3MHz.
==Kulai==
In Kulai, the listeners need to tune Eight FM on 88.1MHz from Gunung Ledang because its low power Johor Bahru frequency 105.3MHz has co-channel interference with RTM Johor FM Gunung Ledang transmitter.
Video is recorded in Kulai town.
==Senai==
Same condition as Kulai, Eight FM 105.3MHz Taman Sentosa JB transmitter signal is moderately clear, but it doesn't have co-channel interference with Johor FM from Gunung Ledang.
88.1MHz from Gunung Ledang is moderately clear and weak in Senai.
By comparing between 105.3 and 88.1, Eight FM 105.3MHz is clearer than 88.1MHz in Senai.
==Kota Tinggi==
* FM 105.3MHz is RTM Johor FM signal from Gunung Ledang tuned in Kota Tinggi, but Eight FM 88.1MHz Gunung Ledang signal is very weak there.
* Not every Kota Tinggi areas can receive Eight FM on 88.1MHz from Gunung Ledang.
==Ulu Tiram and Skudai==
During my departure from Kota Tinggi to Kuala Lumpur, I pass by Ulu Tiram and Skudai, Eight FM 105.3MHz is moderately clear in both Ulu Tiram and Skudai, meanwhile 88.1MHz is moderately weak in Skudai, but no signal in Ulu Tiram.
No co-channel interference from Johor FM Gunung Ledang transmitter is detected in Skudai and Ulu Tiram when I tune Eight FM 105.3MHz.
==Radio reception report of Eight FM 88.1MHz and 105.3MHz in South Johor==
1. Senai
* 105.3MHz: Moderately clear
* 88.1MHz: Moderately weak
2. Kulai
* 105.3MHz: Weak and has co-channel interference with Johor FM
* 88.1MHz: Moderately weak
3. Kota Tinggi
* 105.3MHz: Signal is mostly Johor FM from Gunung Ledang, but very weak
* 88.1MHz: Very weak
4. Ulu Tiram
* 105.3MHz: Moderately clear with little statics
* 88.1MHz: No signal
5. Skudai
* 105.3MHz: Moderately clear
* 88.1MHz: Moderately clear with little statics
==Overall best tuning frequency of Eight FM in South Johor (23rd February 2025)==
Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Sambas PRO-1 is now on FM 97.4MHz, formerly it was on FM 97.7MHz. Few months ago, I asked my Sarawak friends who are based in Kuching regarding this radio station's availability in Kuching, Sarawak, I was told that RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz had no signal in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
In Kuching and Serian, there is only an available Indonesia radio station, known as RRI Entikong PRO-1 FM 100.7MHz.
Today, I have watched a radio reception video of tuning RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz in Lundu, Sarawak by Sarawakian_12 on YouTube.
RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz is the second Indonesia radio station tuned in Lundu, Sarawak after RRI Entikong PRO-1 FM 100.7MHz. In Lundu, the signal of RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz is not so clear actually.
While RRI Entikong PRO-1 FM 100.7MHz is the current furthest radio station tuned in Lundu, RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz becomes the second furthest radio station there.
As 21st February 2025, Lundu is the first and only Sarawak location to receive RRI Sambas PRO-1 FM 97.4MHz.
==Radio reception report of RRI Sambas PRO-1 in Lundu, Sarawak==
* Frequency: FM 97.4MHz
* Power: 5kW
* Transmitter site: Sambas, West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia
In Borneo of Malaysia, from Sabah to Sarawak, FM 99.9MHz is only used by these radio stations below:
1. Cats FM Bukit Singgalang (Selangau and Kanowit)
2. RTM Ai FM Bukit Tampalagus (Sipitang and Labuan)
3. RTM Radio Klasik Felda Sahabat
4. RTM Radio Klasik Bukit Pompod (Kota Belud)
Recently the Sabah radio DXer, Azlan Jumat received a Malay language radio station on the frequency FM 99.9MHz in Tamparuli, Sabah, then I listened to the audio of that frequency, there were 2 male DJs hosting a show, the voices of both DJs don't sound like Radio Klasik, even Radio Klasik morning shows are hosted by female DJs.
Based on the video, I judge that FM 99.9MHz tuned in Tamparuli, Sabah is the radio signal of Cats FM from Bukit Singgalang transmitter, which mainly covers Selangau and Kanowit in Sarawak.
Cats FM 99.9MHz from Bukit Singgalang became the furthest FM radio station tuned in Tamparuli, Sabah by Azlan Jumat with the distance 606 kilometers>
==Radio reception report of Cats FM in Tamparuli, Sabah==
* Frequency: FM 99.9MHz
* Power: 1kW
* Transmitter site: Bukit Singgalang, Sarawak
* Receiving site: Tamparuli, Sabah (with elevation at 853 meter above sea level)
* Distance: 606km
In Sabah, Cats FM is only available clearly in Sindumin, Sipitang and Menumbok via Lawas frequency 88.2MHz, transmitted from Bukit Tiong.
In Sabah, normally the Brunei radio stations can be only tuned clearly in Sindumin, Sipitang, Menumbok and Beaufort.
Recently the Sabah radio DXer, Azlan Jumat tuned Brunei FM radio stations in Tamparuli, Sabah, Malaysia. He received 3 RTB (Radio Televisyen Brunei) radio stations.
1. RTB Nasional FM 92.3MHz from Bukit Subok
2. RTB Nur Islam FM 93.3MHz Bukit Subok & 94.9MHz Andulau
3. RTB Harmoni FM 94.1MHz Bukit Subok & 97.7MHz Andulau
The radio reception of Brunei radio stations in Tamparuli, Sabah were moderately clear. Although Andulau transmitted Brunei radio stations mainly covers Seria, Kuala Belait and Miri, but surprisingly they can be tuned in Sabah.
According to Azlan Jumat, the elevation of the receiving site to tune Brunei radio stations in Tamparuli, Sabah is 853 meter above sea level.
Tuning distance from Bukit Subok to Tamparuli is 202km, meanwhile it is 258km distance to receive signal from Andulau in Tamparuli.
Other than these radio stations, I may think RTB Pilihan FM (95.9MHz & 96.9MHz), Pelangi FM (91.4MHz & 91.0MHz) and Al-Quran Radio (89.1MHz & 99.7MHz) can be received in Tamparuli, Sabah, but several radio stations may have interference with local radio stations.
In Lundu, Sarawak, the Kuching radio stations are tuned loudly and clearly, but only for those are transmitted from Gunung Serapi such as RTM radio stations, Hot FM 94.3MHz and Cats FM 99.3MHz.
Bukit Djin or Bukit Antu transmitted Kuching radio stations signal are varied if we tune them in Lundu, Sarawak.
Here are the random radio reception videos of tuning 3 Bukit Djin transmitted radio stations in Lundu, Sarawak, uploaded by a YouTube.
1. Hitz FM 95.3MHz
2. MY FM 96.9MHz
3. IKIM FM 93.7MHz
4. Era FM 96.1MHz
Tuning distance between Bukit Djin and Lundu is about 52km.
Their signal are weak in Lundu as Bukit Djin transmitter site height is lower.
Lundu is likely the last coverage of Bukit Djin transmitted Kuching radio stations, meanwhile no signal can be tuned in Sematan, Sarawak.
Other than these radio stations, Sarawakian_12 also publishes a brief radio reception post of tuning Bukit Djin transmitted Kuching radio stations on YouTube community tab.
However, I will make video version of tuning Bukit Djin radio stations in Lundu and Bau, Sarawak in August 2025, a full result will be published in September 2025.
BONUS: Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Entikong PRO-1 FM 100.7MHz tuned in Lundu, Sarawak, Malaysia (104km), the furthest radio station tuned in Lundu as February 2025.

Recently I saw many posts from my Indonesian friends and Indonesia radio amateur community group regarding broadcast termination of Radio Republik Indonesia via AM and FM frequencies transmission.
Effective 10th February 2025, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) will temporarily cease PRO-4 radio stations broadcast on AM and FM frequencies nationwide, so PRO-4 will become online only radio stations. This is because of budget concern, so Radio Republik Indonesia is going to cut cost of its radio stations operation.
What I receive the news today is Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Semarang PRO-4 AM 801kHz and FM 88.2MHz will be temporarily shut down tomorrow from several community groups via Facebook.
Hence, the listeners have to access RRI PRO-4 via online.
PRO-1, PRO-2 and PRO-3 are not affected in this exercise, but they will reduce their transmission power, according to my friend from Indonesia.
==Cadangan saya mengenai sambung siar Muzik FM di radio tempatan RTM== 12 tengah malam sehingga 6 pagi * Perlis FM * Kedah FM * Mutiara FM * Perak FM * Selangor FM * Pahang FM * Kelantan FM * Terengganu FM * Negeri FM * Melaka FM * Johor FM * Red FM Sarawak
7 malam sehingga 6 pagi * Labuan FM * Keningau FM * Tawau FM * Sandakan FM
Currently RTM state radio stations (except KL FM, Perlis FM, Sabah FM and Sarawak FM) relay Nasional FM from 12 am to 6am, meanwhile Perlis FM relays Radio Klasik from 12am to 6am, then Sarawak FM and KL FM air 24 hours, as well as Sabah FM only relays Nasional FM for 2 hours.
As Nasional FM is available nationwide via frequency transmission, this causes a broadcast duplication because RTM state radio stations and Nasional FM broadcast simultaneously from 12am to 6am. When you tune to RTM state radio stations from 12am to 6am, it is simulcast of Nasional FM.
In my opinion, to reduce duplication, RTM state/local radio stations can relay Muzik FM during non-broadcast hours, instead of Nasional FM.
Muzik FM is relaunched as online only radio station currently, actually it can become a "partial FM radio station" by being relayed on state radio stations.
For Labuan FM and RTM Sabah's division radio stations, they can relay Muzik FM during their non-broadcasting hours from 7pm to 6am.
In Sarawak, RTM Red FM and Wai FM Bidayuh simulcast Sarawak FM during non-broadcasting hours from 12am to 6am, while Sarawak FM airs 24 hours. Wai FM Bidayuh is only available in Kuching and Serian, then Red FM is available in entire Sarawak. So, Red FM is more suitable than Wai FM Bidayuh to relay Muzik FM as it can be tuned in entire Sarawak region.
If RTM Red FM relays Muzik FM from 12am to 6am, Red FM will become tri-lingual radio station which consists Chinese, English and Malay.
My suggestion to relay Muzik FM on RTM state/local radio stations during non-broadcasting hours
* 12am to 6am
- Perlis FM, Kedah FM, Mutiara FM, Perak FM, Selangor FM, Kelantan FM, Terengganu FM, Pahang FM, Negeri FM, Melaka FM, Johor FM and Red FM Sarawak.
* 7pm to 6am
- Labuan FM, Keningau FM, Tawau FM, Sandakan FM
I will send this proposal to Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), hopefully this proposal works.
In Saratok, Sarawak, alongside Bukit Temudok, Off Spaoh and Bukit Kayu Malam transmitted radio stations, there are few Kuching radio stations available in that town, but those Kuching radio stations are transmitted from Gunung Serapi.
Total of 10 Kuching radio stations are tuned in Saratok, Sarawak by a YouTube user, named FM RADIO TV (@Sarawakian_12).
* 88.1MHz: RTM Nasional FM
* 88.9MHz: RTM Sarawak FM
* 89.9MHz: RTM Traxx FM
* 90.7MHz: RTM Ai FM
* 91.9MHz: RTM Red FM
* 92.9MHz: RTM Radio Klasik
* 94.3MHz: Hot FM
* 99.3MHz: Cats FM
* 101.3MHz: RTM Wai FM Iban
* 106.1MHz: RTM Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan
Receiving distance between Gunung Serapi and Saratok is 128km.
Among 10 radio stations, Cats FM 99.3MHz is the clearest Kuching radio station tuned in Saratok, following by Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan FM 106.1MHz, meanwhile the weakest Kuching radio station tuned in Saratok is Hot FM 94.3MHz.
Hot FM 94.3MHz from Gunung Serapi may have interference with RTM Sarawak FM 94.4MHz Off Spaoh transmitter in Saratok, Sarawak.
In Saratok, RTM radio stations (except Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan) can be tuned via Bukit Kayu Malam, Bukit Temudok or Off Spaoh transmitter clearly. For Wai FM Iban, it can be tuned in Saratok via Sibu FM 94.6MHz and Sri Aman FM 89.5MHz/99.5MHz (Iban broadcast hours: 0000-0900 hours, 1200-0000 hours).
Although RTM Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan is only available in Kuching and Serian on the frequencies 106.1MHz and 101.7MHz respectively, but this radio station can be tuned in the divisions of Sri Aman and Betong on the same frequencies.
Recently, there is a YouTube user, named FM RADIO TV (@Sarawakian_12) publishing FM radio DXing video content by recording RTM Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan radio signal in Saratok, Sarawak on 106.1MHz and 101.7MHz.
Sarawakian_12 aka FM Radio TV recorded the radio signal of RTM Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan in Saratok by using built-in smartphone radio receiver.
Based on the two radio reception videos of Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan in Saratok, Sarawak, 106.1MHz from Gunung Serapi is clearer than 101.7MHz from Bukit Ampungan.
Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan 101.7MHz radio signal from Bukit Ampungan is very weak in Saratok, Sarawak, so it has no signal in Roban.
==Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan radio reception in Saratok, Sarawak==
* 106.1MHz Gunung Serapi/Kuching (128km): Clear
* 101.7MHz Bukit Ampungan/Serian (102km): Weak
In Roban, Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan can be only tuned via FM 106.1MHz from Gunung Serapi, but the signal is weak, meanwhile it cannot be tuned there via 101.7MHz from Bukit Ampungan.
In conclusion, Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan is tuned on 106.1MHz (Gunung Serapi) in Roban, Saratok, Kabong and Pusa where are located in northern Betong Division.
However, this is not enough yet because I will come to Simanggang, Betong, Spaoh, Lingga, Debak, Saratok, Pusa and Roban to make the comprehensive videos of tuning Wai FM Bidayuh/Kayan on 106.1MHz/101.7MHz in May 2025, alongside Wai FM Iban on 101.3MHz/106.9MHz.
