RTM Selangor FM 100.9MHz is a state radio station mainly serving Selangor, Malaysia. It can be received in South Perak (Tanjung Malim, Teluk Intan, Tapah), West Pahang (Bentong only) and part of Negeri Sembilan (Seremban/Port Dickson) as well as Melaka. Transmitter site is located in Gunung Ulu Kali (Genting Highlands, Pahang).
Surprisingly RTM Selangor FM 100.9MHz can be tuned clearly in Indonesia territory. An Indonesia Youtube user, named Noprio Sandi made a footage of receiving Malaysia radio station in Rokan Hilir, Riau province of Indonesia on 7th November 2020 in his Toyota Cayla.
In the footage, most of Malaysia radio stations that he received are transmitted from Gunung Ulu Kali. Until FM 100.9MHz, he recorded the footage longer as Selangor FM played an Indonesia song by Misha Omar, and he listened to the DJ hosting. Hence, I decided to take the clip from the long footage, and published on YouTube with credit.
According to the footage, RTM Selangor FM 100.9MHz from Gunung Ulu Kali receiving signal is very clear in Rokan Hilir (Rohil), Riau province, Indonesia because it is located in east coast side of Riau province, and there are no terrain between West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia and Indonesia, hence our Malaysia radio stations signal can overspill to Indonesia.
Northeast Riau and Southeast North Sumatra province listeners can listen to Selangor FM 100.9MHz loudly and clearly.

ReplyDeleteI could still receive Radio Thailand via MW when I was traveling to Bali in 2018. Very weak signal but still able to hear it's Thai. Then I did DXing in Lombok and Bali again, I could receive AM station from Australia at night, very clear reception.
East coast of Riau Province especially in Rokan Hilir, Dumai, Bengkalis and Kepulauan Meranti Regency can receive Malaysian Radio and TV signal cleary since the 80's. People in these area are prefer to receive Malaysian Radio and TV signal since the signal is much clearer than their local Radio and TV signal. Besides the similarity of languange as majority of people in these area are Malay ethnic, they are more comfortable with Malaysian Radio and TV compare to their local Radio and TV which is in Indonesian languange. Malaysian Radio and TV transmitter which is located 4000 to 5000 feet above sea level easily overspill its signal and outperform their local Radio and TV signal.
