Upper Jerai is used by most of broadcasters because it can cover many northern region areas.
Lower Jerai is usually used for cellular transmission, it belongs to Celcom, but there is a radio station transmitted from Lower Jerai, it is Ikim FM, where frequency is 89.0MHz with 2kW power, but Lower Jerai only can cover Kedah (except Bandar Baharu, Baling and Kulim), Perlis and parts of Langkawi. It cannot cover Penang and North Perak. There is no signal in Taiping and Penang on FM 89.0MHz (Ikim FM) from Lower Jerai.
