Mix FM frequency in Penang

The frequency of Mix FM in Penang is FM 91.0MHz, which transmitted from Gunung Jerai, where covers Kedah, Perlis, Langkawi and Penang, also some Southern Thailand areas like Satun, Betong, Sadao and Danok.

In Penang, most of Penang areas can receive Mix FM 91.0MHz clearly, but certain areas cannot receive Mix FM on 91.0MHz due to frequency clashing with RTM local radio station Mutiara FM 90.9MHz from Bukit Genting Balik Pulau.

When you drive to Balik Pulau, you can realize Mix FM 91.0MHz will turn its station to Mutiara FM.

Before RTM launched the transmitters in Bukit Genting for Balik Pulau in September 2003, Mix FM 91.0MHz is receivable in Balik Pulau, Teluk Kumbar, and Bayan Lepas. In my opinion, since Mix FM operated 91.0MHz earlier than RTM Mutiara FM 90.9MHz, RTM Mutiara FM should migrate its frequency 90.9MHz to other suitable frequencies like 100.7MHz, 99.9MHz, 97.7MHz etc.

If RTM refuse to migrate Mutiara FM Balik Pulau frequency due to some reasons (like high costs transmitter fees and extra works), no action and suggestion can be done.

I had gone to Balik Pulau on December 2013 when having 4 days 3 nights trip in Penang, I was unable to listen to Mix FM 91.0MHz in Balik Pulau, meanwhile 91.3MHz from Bukit Larut Taiping was still receivable, but signal was not so clear.

If you are unable to listen to Mix FM in Balik Pulau Penang, you may try to tune on 91.3MHz from Taiping.
