Malaysia's English business radio station BFM 89.9 was tuned in Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia with RDS PS text.


 

5 years ago, someone from Indonesia tuned BFM 89.9 loudly and clearly in Rokan Hilir, Riau Province, Indonesia during the radio frequency bandscan.


Recently I spotted an another video of tuning BFM 89.9 in Indonesia which was published on YouTube by 4th October 2024, but BFM 89.9 was tuned by Limra DX in Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra, Indonesia.


 

 

BFM 89.9 from Gunung Ulu Kali, Malaysia was loud and clear in Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra, Indonesia, even its RDS PS text "BFM 89.9 BUSINESS, BFM 89.9 FINANCE, BFM 89.9 MUSIC" was appeared on the radio receiver.


The receiving distance between Gunung Ulu Kali and Pematangsiantar is 314km.


Overall, by calculating the receiving distance, Pematangsiantar became the furthest location to tune BFM 89.9.


Although BFM 89.9 mainly focuses in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Malaysia, but internationally it can be tuned in part of Indonesia on the same frequency.

Indonesia radio stations from Riau Province received in Bukit Segenting, Johor, Malaysia by Rafiq

On 13th July 2025, my friend Rafiq went to Bukit Segenting in Senggarang, Johor, Malaysia. He caught 3 Indonesia radio stations signal from Riau Province there.



The FM frequencies that he tuned were 90.6MHz, 96.4MHz, 100.8MHz.


FM 90.6MHz- Radio Republik Indonesia RRI Bengkalis PRO-1 (147km)

 

FM 96.4MHz - Radio Bimantara (364km from Bukittinggi)


FM 100.8MHz- Hit FM (177km from Dumai)



Both RRI Bengkalis PRO-1 FM 90.6MHz and Hit FM 100.8MHz Dumai were moderately clear at the top peak in Bukit Segenting, Johor, Malaysia, meanwhile Radio Bimantara FM 96.4MHz from Bukittinggi was very weak there, but it was the furthest Indonesia radio station tuned in Bukit Segenting.

Taboh Naning is the first location to receive Radio Diva Nusantara FM 101.1MHz from Riau, Indonesia in Melaka, Malaysia.


Over the last month, my friends and I managed to catch Radio Diva Nusantara FM 101.1MHz from Indonesia in various areas of Malaysia.


At my side, I caught the radio signal of Diva Nusantara FM 101.1MHz in Selangor, Malaysia with 6-7 locations. This radio station is based in Bagansiapiapi, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia.


However, my friend, Mu'izz tuned Radio Diva Nusantara FM 101.1MHz in Taboh Naning, Melaka last week.

 

 

The signal was also weak in Taboh Naning like what I tuned in Morib and Tanjung Sepat, Selangor, Malaysia.


Taboh Naning was the first location in Melaka, Malaysia to receive Radio Diva Nusantara FM 101.1MHz from Indonesia. In addition, Tabong Naning becomes the furthest location to receive this radio station in Malaysia with 155km distance.

Update: Radio Republik Indonesia RRI PRO-3 shortwave frequency is now on SW 7335kHz.


 

On 21st July 2025, Radio Republik Indonesia RRI PRO-3 news station launched shortwave frequency on SW 7300kHz.


Last week, RRI PRO-3 changed its shortwave frequency to SW 7335kHz to avoid interference with China radio stations.


Dear shortwave radio listeners in Indonesia, please tune to SW 7335kHz and listen to RRI PRO-3 programs.


According to Radio Republik Indonesia, PRO-3 SW 7335kHz will be broadcasted from 1700 hours to 0600 hours (West Indonesia time/UTC+7) to cover remote areas.
